Jason Kyle Perry...attended Georgia Tech...was originally signed by Toronto scout Charles Aliano...hit .337 with 14 home runs and 57 RBI in his sophomore season at Georgia Tech in 2001 and then batted .325 with 12 home runs and 60 RBI in his final season in 2002.

2002

Began his professional career at Medicine Hat of the Rookie Pioneer League and hit .425 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI in 30 games...that earned him an August 5 promotion to Single-A Dunedin where he batted .289 with a home run and five RBI in 13 games...combined for a career high .384 batting average overall and added 11 home runs and 41 RBI in 43 games...slugged .689 and had a .472 onbase percentage...appeared in 24 games at first base, 14 at designated hitter and three in left field...was also 3 for 3 as a pinch-hitter with two home runs and five RBI...while at Medicine Hat, he tied for second in the Pioneer League in home runs...was named Pioneer League Player of the Week for the weeks of July 8 to 14 (10 for 18, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 5 BB) and July 29 to August 4 (8 for 14, 3 HR, 8 RBI).

2003

Began the season in the Toronto Blue Jays organization but was sent to the Oakland Athletics organization on June 23 as the player to be named later in the January 27 trade in which the A's sent John-Ford Griffin to Toronto...batted a combined .305 with five home runs and 43 RBI in 89 games at the Single-A level, playing for Dunedin with Toronto and Modesto with Oakland...the batting average included a .315 (78 for 248) mark and all five of his home runs against right-handers compared to .273 (21 for 77) against left-handers...his average improved to .367 (40 for 109) with runners in scoring position...appeared in 32 games in right field, 22 in left field and hit .325 (41 for 126) in 33 games at designated hitter...hit .304 with a home run and 17 RBI in 39 games with Dunedin...batted .357 (25 for 70) at home and .246 (16 for 65) on the road...got off to a slow start as he hit .204 (11 for 54) over his first 16 games...then hit .370 (30 for 81) over his final 23 games in the Blue Jays organization... then went on to bat .305 with four home runs and 26 RBI in 50 games with Modesto...hit .388 (26 for 67) over his first 17 games with the A's, went 10 for 71 (.141) over his next 18 games from July 16 to August 14 and then hit .423 (22 for 52) over his final 15 games...hit .375 (3 for 8) in two postseason games for Modesto.

2004

Began the season at Double-A Midland but hit .198 with one home run and 11 RBI in 28 games before he was transferred to Single-A Modesto on May 31...went on to hit .338 with 24 home runs and 80 RBI in 83 games at Modesto...led the California League in on-base percentage (.431), slugging (.686) and extra base hits (64), ranked second in batting and home runs and tied for second in doubles (39)...combined at both stops for a .310 batting average, 25 home runs and 91 RBI in 111 games...finished fourth in the A's organization in home runs and was seventh in batting...ranked fourth in all of minor league baseball in hit by pitches (26), tied for seventh in doubles (44), 10th in slugging (.613) and tied for 12th in extra base hits (71)...had career highs in games, at bats (406), runs (92), hits (126), doubles, home runs, RBI, walks (38), strikeouts (110) and stolen bases (7) and matched his best in triples (2)...his overall batting average included a .331 (103 for 311) mark and 21 of his 25 home runs against right handed pitching and a .242 (23 for 95) average against left-handers...hit .339 (41 for 121) with runners in scoring position...appeared in 71 games in right field, 17 in left field, two in center field and two at first base...also made his professional debut at catcher on May 24 against San Antonio...hit .305 (18 for 59) in 15 games as a designated hitter...batted in every spot in the order except first and third and saw most of his action hitting clean-up (84 for 249, .337) where he hit 19 of his 25 home runs...struggled to start the season at Midland as he hit .206 (7 for 34) in 12 games in April and .191 (9 for 47) in 16 games in May...was transferred to Modesto on May 31 and ended up leading the club in home runs, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and hit by pitches (21) despite appearing in just 83 games...put together his best batting average in June when he hit .394 (28 for 71) in 21 games...then batted .339 (40 for 118) in July with 13 home runs, 32 RBI and 31 runs scored in 28 games...was hitting .360 at the end of July but then hit .310 (35 for 113) in August and .304 (7 for 23) in September to finish the year at .338...had his first of five two-homer games on June 15 at Visalia...also homered twice on July 3 at Visalia, July 6 against San Jose, July 23 against Bakersfield and July 29 at Visalia...had a season high 14-game hitting streak from June 25 to July 14 (21 for 59, .356)...scored four runs on July 1 at Visalia...had a season high five RBI on July 3 at Visalia...homered in five consecutive games from July 23 to 27 and hit nine home runs total over an eight-game span from July 23 to 30...had his lone four-hit game of the season on July 29 at Visalia...had 11 doubles over an 11-game span from August 10 to 20...hit .378 (17 for 45) with three doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored in 10 postseason appearances for the California League Champion Modesto A's...then batted .229 (16 for 70) with five home runs and 15 RBI in 21 games for the Arizona Fall League Champion Phoenix Desert Dogs.
