Graduated from Cardinal Newman (Calif.) High School and attended Santa Rosa Junior College and Texas Tech. Utilityman has played 5 different positions (1B, 2B, 3B, LF, RF) plus DH over parts of 4 major league seasons...against LHP, owns a career .338 (25-for-74) avg., .456 OBP and .514 SLG...is a .224 (32-for- 143) career hitter vs. RHP.
2009
Spent 62 games on the Rays active roster, but played in only 15 (7 starts; 6-DH, 1-2B) and had 35 plate appearances...was selected from Triple-A Durham on May 26 when Jason Bartlett was placed on the 15-day DL and Akinori Iwamura was transferred to the 60- day DL...was designated for assignment on Aug 8 and outrighted to Durham on Aug 13...homered May 30 vs. MIN (Francisco Liriano) in his first career at-bat at the Trop...went 3-for-3 with a go-ahead RBI single off Mariano Rivera in the 9th inning of the Rays 9-7 win on June 6 at NYY...for Durham, played at all four infield positions as well as DH...was on Sacramento's Triple-A roster before the Rays acquired him on May 8, but had not appeared in a game due to a lower back injury.

Had 3 stints with the Brewers...pinch-hit and played four positions (6-2B, 4-1B, 2-LF, 1-3B)...homered off Randy Johnson, July 1 at ARI...was claimed off waivers by Oakland on Oct 31.

Went to spring training with Florida as a non-roster invite...Was released by the Marlins on 3/24 and signed by the Brewers on 3/26...Spent most of the season at Triple-A Nashville, where he batted .317 with 20 HR and 73 RBI in 94 games...Was recalled from Nashville on 7/31.....at the time of his promotion led the team in batting average, runs, hits, doubles, home runs and RBI while ranking among the Pacific Coast League leaders in on-base percentage (3rd, .405) and slugging percentage (3rd, .605)...Batted .342 with 10 RBI in 39 games with the Brewers...Made 11 starts (5g in LF, 3g at 1B, 2g at 2B, 1g in RF)...Made his Brewers debut on 8/1 vs. New York-NL and recorded a pinch-hit single off Billy Wagner...Had his first career multi-hit game on 8/8 at Colorado, going 3-for-4 with a run and his first career triple...Produced a career-high 4 RBI on 9/16 vs. Cincinnati

Spent the season in Japan with the Yomiuri Giants...appeared in 31 games and batted .195 (17-for-87) with four extra-base hits...played one game at first base, four in the outfield, and 16 at third base...made three errors at third base and had one outfield assist.

Opened the season at Triple-A Albuquerque, and made his Major League debut on May 18 at the Dodgers, where he went 1-for-4 with a single. First hit was off Jeff Weaver. Connected for his first big league homer off Tampa Bay's Jesus Colome on May 21. Recalled on Sept. 17. Batted .360 with 24 homers and 72 RBIs in 98 games at Triple-A Albuquerque.
2004
Opened the season with AA Carolina and hit .355 in April with seven home runs before he received his first call to AAA Albuquerque on May 1...played in eight games, in which he recorded hits in the last five before returning to Carolina on May 9...During 11 May games at Carolina, had eight extra-base hits and nine RBI...in 33 games overall at Carolina, hit .400 in 23 road games and .216 in 10 home games...Was called up to Albuquerque for remainder of season on May 21...from May 21 to June 18, recorded hits in 24 of 27 games, batting .420 (42x100) with 17 HR and 37 RBI...Named PCL Batter of the Week for the week of June 6-13, homering in four straight games from June 8-12...the streak included multi-HR games on June 8 and 12 for a total of six homers over four games...also had six RBI on June 8 at Oklahoma...June marked top homer and RBI month, as he hit 12 home runs and totaled 26 RBI...Followed the Batter of the Week honors up on June 14 vs. Iowa by becoming the second Isotopes player to hit for the cycle, going 4x4 with three RBI...marked his third four-hit game with Albuquerque, following May 8 vs. Omaha, which included three doubles, and May 23 vs. Las Vegas, when he scored four runs...Batting average topped .300 in every month but August, when he hit .274...With Albuquerque, played 65 games at third base, 25 at second base, and 24 in left field...also played first base twice and center field three times...Finished with a combined 39 homers between Double-A and Triple-A, the third-best total in all of Minor League Baseball...Scored 122 runs, the most in all of minor league baseball, and his 92 extra-base hits also led the minors...his .669 SLG was third in the minors, while his 348 total bases ranked second in the minors...46 doubles ranked fifth...Named AAA All-Star and represented Isotopes at All-Star Game in Pawtucket, going 0x3...recorded two homers in HR Derby.
