Married Alysa ... played collegiately at Oklahoma, where he pitched and played the outfield ... earned the following All-America awards as a senior in 1999: First-Team as a utility player by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings; Second Team from *Baseball Weekly* and The *Sporting News;* Third Team as a utility player by *Baseball America* and as a relief pitcher from *Collegiate Baseball* ... named First-Team All-Big 12 as an outfielder and Second Team as a relief pitcher ... broke the school's single-season (19) and career (27) saves records ... his 19 saves in 1999 were second in the nation and set a Big 12 Conference single-season record ... was a career .327 (142-433) hitter with 21 home runs and 92 RBI as an outfielder ... graduated from Riverside (Calif.) Community College, where he was drafted in the 13th round by Oakland in 1998 (did not sign) ... re-entered draft and selected by the Sox in 1999 before returning to Oklahoma for senior season.
