San Francisco's Opening Day left-fielder played in 122 games, batting .258 (76-for-295) with 21 2Bs, 3 3Bs 4 HRs and 20 RBI...was starting left-fielder through June 11, starting 49 of SF's 1st 59 games, however lost starting job in mid-June, making starts in just 21 of Giants' final 103 games and appearing mainly as pinch-hitter for duration of season...hit .263 (10-for-38) in pinch with 7 2B's and 7 RBI...only Nate Schierholtz (.371) had higher avg. as pinch-hitter on team...became one of SF's best pinch-hitting options in 2nd half of year, going 8-for-30 (.267)... posted back-to-back seasons with at least 20 2Bs (25 in 2008)...had 5th-fewest amount of RBI among ML players with at least 300 plate appearances...only Cincinnati's Willy Taveras (15), Arizona's Augie Ojeda (16), New York's-NL Alex Cora (18) and Seattle's Jack Hannahan (19) had less...batted .542 (13-for-24) on 1st pitch, highest figure among NL players and 3rd-best in majors behind Oakland's Jack Cust (.577) and Toronto's Randy Ruiz (.545)...hit better at AT&T Park posting .288 clip (42-for-146) compared to .228 figure (34-for-149) on road...started 70 games overall (69 in LF and 1 as DH)...committed 3 errors in 133 total chances, however, did not commit an error in his final 49 contests (79 total chances)...batted .259 (63-for-243) with 4 HRs and 12 RBI in starting role...hit everywhere in Giants' lineup except for clean-up spot...started year hitting in 3-hole for 8 games, moved to 5th spot for 3 games and then on to leadoff role for 16 games...proceeded to hit lower in lineup (5th- 8th) for rest of season...although he only appeared in 122 games, ranked 2nd on team with .348 on-base pct....went 20-for-67 (.299) with .420 OBP (11 BBs) in 20 games in month of April...was nominee for NL Player of the Week for 1st week of season April 5-12, posting .450 clip (9-for-20) with 5 runs, 3 2Bs, 3B, RBI, .560 OBP and .700 slugging pct. during stretch...lost out to Florida RHP Josh Johnson (2-0, 0.57 ERA)...hit his 1st home run of season May 15 off New York's-NL Livan Hernandez...had .182 avg. Spent entire campaign with Giants, his 1st full season with big league club, before having year cut short due to season-ending surgery on big right toe...appeared in 133 games with SF, batting .282 (132-for-468) with 81 runs, 25 2Bs, 11 3Bs, 9 HRs and 40 RBI, while going 21-for-28 in stolen base attempts...made 108 starts overall (101 in LF, 5 in CF, 2 in RF) and was 5th on team with 133 games played...reached base safely via hit, walk or hit by pitch in 90 of his 108 starts...took over sole ownership of left field when fellow outfielder Dave Roberts went down with knee injury April 8...was 2nd on club in runs (81), 1st in 3Bs (11, tied for 2nd in NL) 6th in HRs (9), 3rd in avg. Showed his huge potential, reaching double-digits in steals and every extrabase hit category during 1st full year with triple-A Fresno...batted .276 with 20 2Bs, 11 3Bs, career-high 12 HRs, 57 RBI and 18 thefts in 120 games at Fresno...triples total led club and ranked 3rd in Pacific Coast League, while he also led Grizzlies in runs scored (85), hits (121) and steals...was recalled Sept. 1 and collected RBI-double that day at Wrigley Field (off Cubs' Rich Hill) in 1st ML at-bat...in fact, registered hits in each of his 1st 3 big league ABs...finished initial SF stay 5-for-11 (.455) with 5 runs scored and 2 RBI in 13 games (as LFer, CFer, pinch-hitter and pinch-runner)...was perfect 3-for-3 (all singles) as pinch-hitter...played for Scottsdale Scorpions in Arizona Fall League, hitting .273 (15-for-55) with 2 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 2 HRs, 7 RBI and 2 stolen bases in 17 contests.

Logged 1st year at double-A level, appearing in team-high 137 games for Norwich Navigators...batted .273 (140-for-512) with 79 runs scored, 28 2Bs, 7 3Bs, 7 HRs, 47 RBI and 30 stolen bases (in 43 attempts)...his runs scored and steals were 2nd most on squad, trailing Daniel Ortmeier in both categories (85 and 35, respectively)...served primarily as club's leadoff hitter, while defensively appearing in both leftfield (62 games) and centerfield (68 contests)...had best month in July, batting .358 (38-for-106) with 17 runs scored and 16 RBI in 29 contests...for his efforts, was named Giants' Organizational double-A Player of Month...entered July hitting just .226, raising season mark 47 points over last 2-plus months to final .273 showing.

Had breakout season, while splitting campaign between Class A Advanced San Jose and Triple-A Fresno...established career standards in avg. (.301), games (121), runs (91), 2Bs, (21), 3Bs (11), HRs (9), RBI (59) and stolen bases (34)...led all Giants farmhands in thefts, while ranking 8th in avg...spent majority of season with San Jose, where he hit .301 and ranked among California League leaders in runs (9th - 88), 3Bs (T2nd - 11), stolen bases (7th - 33) and on-base pct. (2nd - .424)...earned late season promotion to Fresno, hitting .304 with HR and 2 RBI in 6 games for Grizzlies...following conclusion of regular season, re-joined San Jose for Cal League playoffs...in 7 post season contests, hit .222 (6-for-27) with 3 runs, 2 2Bs and 4 RBI.
