Opened the year on the big league roster and appeared in 47 games for the Diamondbacks...served as the primary option at closer from mid-May through July, totaling 12 saves, good for 19th in the National League and third on the team, trailing Jose Valverde (15) and Brandon Lyon (14)...first batters hit only .158 (6-for- 38), which ranked sixth among N.L. relievers and 10th among all MLB relievers...he was more effective against lefties (.280, 23-for-82) than right-handers (.314, 33-for-105)...closed out Arizona's 5-2 win over Colorado on 4/13 for his first Major League save...His lone win of the year came in the 12-11 triumph over K.C. on 6/10, setting down the Royals in the 10th, then watching Troy Glaus hit a walk-off homer...converted 11 of 12 save opportunities from 5/15-7/27, but had an uncharacteristically high 8.20 ERA in 21 games over that stretch...recorded his final save of the year on 7/27 at Milwaukee with a perfect ninth inning...Was optioned to Triple-A Tucson on 8/20 and went 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in four appearances with the Sidewinders...was recalled on 9/2, but appeared only once over the remainder of the season, working a scoreless inning on 9/15 vs. Milwaukee.

Began the year with Triple-A Tucson, going 2-0 with a 1.15 ERA during 11 April appearances...his first of three promotions to the big leagues was on 5/8, as the 22-year old was the youngest player on the roster at the time and debuted that night with a scoreless inning against the Phillies...Opened his big league career with 6.0 scoreless frames over his first six appearances...earned his first Major League win on 5/11 against the Mets...was placed on the disabled list on 5/27 with an inflamed right elbow...once healthy, he made five rehab showings from 6/25-7/3, then was activated on 7/6 and made five more appearances for Arizona. 4 Was optioned to Tucson on 7/22 and tossed 12.2 scoreless frames for the Sidewinders over 12 games (17K)...was recalled again on 8/20 to fill the roster spot opened by the trade of Elmer Dessens to Los Angeles...he limited big leaguers to a .189 opponents' average, third-best among rookies with at least 30.0 innings.

2003

Earned the organization's minor league Pitcher-of-the-Year honors as he split the campaign between El Paso (AA) and Tucson (AAA...he went a combined 3-3 with 26 saves, a 2.70 ERA (19 earned runs in 63.1 innings), 60 strikeouts and a .221 opponents average...he excelled on the road, posting 18 saves and a 1.75 ERA (7 earned runs in 36.0 innings) while limiting opposing hitters to a .230 average (31-for-135) with 39 strikeouts...despite his 3.95 ERA in 27 home contests spanning 27.1 frames, opponents batted just .210 (22-for-105)...Brian dominated righthanded batters, holding them to a .174 average (25-for-144) with 41 strikeouts while lefties hit .292 (28-for-96) with 19 strikeouts...he earned the farm system's Pitcher-of-the-Month honors for May after recording 8 saves, a 0.57 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 15.2 innings over 12 games...Bruney opened his season in El Paso and posted a 3.24 ERA in his first 9 games, allowing 3 runs in 8.1 frames...he then nailed down 9 saves over the next 12 games, holding opponents scoreless over a span of 13.1 innings...he posted a season- best 4 K's on May 15 at Midlandhe matched his career-high with 3.0 innings pitched at Wichita on May 30...he capped his time in El Paso with a trip to the Texas League All-Star Game on June 16, tossing a scoreless 0.1 of an inning with a strikeout for the West Divisionhe was promoted to Tucson on June 17 and went 1-1 with 6 saves while allowing an unearned run over his first 15 appearances (15.0 innings) for the Sidewinders, limiting opposing batters to a .120 average (6-for-50)...he went 2-0 with 6 saves over his final 17 appearances despite a 5.29 ERA (10 earned runs in 17.0 innings)...all told, Brian held opponents scoreless in 47 of 60 outings with both minor league clubs.

2002

Began his second consecutive season in Single-A South Bend before getting his first taste of Double-A in El Paso...led the South Bend pitching staff with 10 saves...he was promoted to El Paso on 8/3...pitched for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a league-best seven saves in 16 games, fanning 17 in 18.2 innings...was named to the Arizona Fall League All-Prospect Team, as voted by the league's managers and coaches.

2001

Began the season at Single-A South Bend, going 1-4 with a 4.13 ERA and eight saves in 26 relief appearances...sent to Yakima on 7/18 and ranked fifth among Northwest League relievers with 12.0 strikeouts per 9-innings...held opponents to a .188 average (32-for-170) over the last five months of the season.

2000

In his first professional season, ranked fourth among Arizona Rookie League relievers with a .200 opponents' average...went 4-1 with a 6.48 ERA in 20 games (two starts)...posted a 3-0 record with two saves and 2.38 ERA over nine games from 6/29-7/23.
