Power-hitting third baseman signed with Giants as minor league free agent over winter and comes to big league camp as non-roster invitee...8-year professional has slugged at least 20 HRs 4 times...originally Seattle's 13th round pick in 1999 First-Year Player Draft, has seen big league action with Mariners (2004) and Padres (2006). Graduated from Bonanza (Las Vegas, NV) High School...attended Barstow (CA) Community College and St. Martin's (Lacey, WA) College...member of the 2003 USA Olympic Qualifying Team, hit .275 (11-for-40) with 13 runs, 4 2Bs, 3 HRs and 8 RBI in 13 games.

Logged lone season in San Diego organization, spending all but 1 at-bat with triple-A Portland...had contract purchased by Padres July 21...flew out to right field that day in San Francisco, his only at bat with Friars...was optioned to Portland July 24...in 124 games with Beavers, hit .260 with 20 2Bs, 20 HRs and 73 RBI...started 87 games at 3rd base.

Made big league debut with Seattle, while also appearing at triple-A level for 1st time...was recalled by Seattle July 1, making Major League debut as pinch hitter July 2 at St. Louis...recorded 1st hit, 2B (off Justin Speier), in 9th inning as pinch hitter July 7 at Toronto...appeared in 31 games, making 29 starts for Mariners (28 at 3B, 1 at SS)...ended season on Disabled List with fractured 4th and 5th metacarpals in left hand after being hit by pitch Aug. 17 in Kansas City.

Was named Texas League Player of Year by Baseball America, Mariners Minor League Player of Year by Seattle organization and Texas League Player of Year by Topps, while toiling for double-A San Antonio...led league in on-base percentage (.405), extrabase hits (66), runs scored (103) and tied for league lead in doubles (38)...played in career-high 135 games (123 at 3rd base)...was selected to start in Texas League All-Star Game and named to Texas League Post Season All-Star Team...hit .375 with 5 runs, 2B, 3B, 4 RBI and stolen base in Texas League Championships.
