Reed fractured his right thumb on July 2 and was placed on the 60-day disabled list. Before the injury, Reed had hit safely in 10 of 14 games with three home runs. Five of Reed's six home runs came on the road, with three against the Angels. Reed hit his first home run at Safeco Field on June 17 against San Francisco. Reed had a career-high 10-game hitting streak earlier in the season.
