He and his wife, Reza, make their offseason home in Castro Valley, Calif., with their daughter Alexa (Sept. 5, 1996)...originally drafted by the Astros in the 24th round of the 1997 draft...graduated from the University of Miami where he helped the Hurricanes to the 2001 College World Series title...named the College World Series MVP...originally drafted by the Astros in the 24th round of the 1997 draft...played both baseball and basketball at Mt. Eden High School (CA).
2006
Pinch-ran and recorded his 2nd stolen base on 9/28 at PIT...both of his career hits are at Citizens Bank Park vs. the Phillies (PH single and PH HR)...hit a 440-ft. home run in his first MLB plate appearance, on 9/4 at PHI (Hamels)...is the 3rd Astro all-time to accomplish the feat, joining Jose Sosa (1975) and David Matranga (2003)...is the 3rd player in 2006 to homer in his first MLB plate appearance...homer broke up a nohitter in the 6th inning, the second Astro in as many years to break up a no-hitter in the 6th or later with his first MLB HR (Chris Burke, vs. Pedro Martinez on 6/7/05 at Shea Stadium)...pinchran and recorded his first career SB on 9/8 at MIL...hit .247 (116x470) with 18 HR and 45 RBI in 123 games with 28 SBfor Triple A Round Rock.... recalled from Round Rock on Sept. 1 and made his second appearance on a Major League roster...appeared in one game without a plate appearance last year with the Astros.
2005
Appeared in one game for the Astros as a defensive replacement and did not have a plate appearance on Sept. 14, 2005...recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on that same day...hit .259 (110x425) in 115 games for Double A Corpus Christi...hit 16 home runs and drove in 44 runs while stealing 27 bases...hit 24 doubles and three triples...earned a late-season promotion to Round Rock and hit .304 (7x23) with one RBI in seven games.
2004
Spent the season at Double-A Round Rock...ranked third in the Texas League with 39 stolen bases...finished second at Round Rock with 18 home runs and tied for second on the club with five triples...homered in back-to-back games on three occasions: June 16-17 vs. Frisco; both games of a doubleheader on June 30 at Arkansas; and Sept. 3-5 at San Antonio...cracked two home runs in a 2x4 outing with two RBI on Aug. 10 vs. El Paso...batted .305 with five home runs and 14 RBI in June...notched four hits in two games: went 4x6 on June 2 at El Paso, and 4x6 on June 30 at Arkansas with a home run and two RBI...participated in his first Major League Spring Training...played for Scottsdale during the 2004 Arizona Fall League.

Appeared in 97 games for Class-A Salem...batted .265 (89x336) with 12 home runs and 55 RBI...posted a 98.5 fielding percentage...ranked second in the league with an .871 stolen base percentage, swiping 27 bases while getting caught four times...earned Salem's Offensive Player of the Month honors for August after batting .324 with eight home runs and 28 RBI...garnered Defensive Player of the Month honors in July after posting 28 put-outs and three assists in 22 games played...named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 21-27...batted .429 (9x21) during the week, including six runs scored, three home runs and seven RBI...raised his overall batting average 13 points over the seven games during the week...posted an .857 slugging percentage...named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of June 19-25...batted .529 (9x17) in five games with four runs scored, three doubles, one home run and five RBI...also carried a .882 slugging percentage as the Avalanche won four games during the stretch...went 4x4 with a home run and four RBI on Aug. 26 vs. Potomac.
2002
Named a South Atlantic League All-Star while at Class A Lexington...led the Legends in stolen bases (34) and home runs (14).

Led Pittsfield in home runs (nine), ranked second in steals (15) and third in RBI (31)...joined Pittsfield mid-season in his first year of professional baseball.
