After bouncing between the rotation and bullpen in April and May, Buchholz found success in relief over the final four months, finishing with a 6-5 record and 4.23 ERA (93.2 ip, 44 er) in 41 games/eight starts for Colorado...was on active roster the entire season, one of just four pitchers on staff to make that claim (also Affeldt, Corpas, Francis)...in his second Major League season, established career bests in appearances, ERA, and wins (tied)...went 1-3, 5.98 (43.2 ip, 29 er) in eight starts, 5-2, 2.70 (50.0 ip, 15 er) in 33 relief appearances...opponents batted .288, .306 (60-196) by right-handers and .268 (45-168) by lefties... first batters hit .387 (12-for-31) with two walks...allowed 9 of 22 (40.9%) inherited runners to score and recorded one hold...did not have any save chances, and still has none for his career...team was 4-4 in his eight starts...posted three quality starts...tossed season-high 7.0 innings twice, in consecutive starts on May 19 vs. Kansas City and May 27 at San Francisco...was 6-2, 4.03 (44.2 ip, 20 er) in 19 games/three starts at Coors Field, 0-3, 4.41 (49.0 ip, 24 er) in 22 games/five starts on the road...began season with 4 straight relief outings... made his Rockies debut in club's third game of the season, April 4 vs. Arizona, allowing two runs in 0.2 inning while finishing off Rockies' 11-4 win to secure series win over D-backs...appeared in just four of the club's first 19 games, allowing runs in three of four relief outings... earned win on April 18 vs. Los Angeles, tossing 2.0 innings in relief of starter Rodrigo Lopez, who was forced from the game due to injury...would take Lopez's spot in the rotation for his first start with Rox on April 23 at New York-NL, taking loss in matchup with John Maine, a 6-1 Rockies defeat (5.0 ip, 5 h, 4 r-er)...tossed 1.0 perfect inning in relief on April 27 vs. Atlanta...made 6 straight starts from May 1-June 1, as seven of his eight starts this season came in a span of eight outings from April 23-June 1...on May 8 at St. Louis (6.0 ip, 4 h, 0 r), left with a 1-0 lead after 6.0 shutout innings, and still wound up with a no decision when bullpen was charged with four runs in a 4-1 Rox defeat...lone winning start came May 19 vs. Kansas City (7.0 ip, 5 h, 1 r-0 er) in a 6-4 victory, Rockies' lone win against the Royals in that series...his only run allowed came when CF Willy Taveras misplayed a single in the first inning for an error, making the run unearned...received just one or zero runs of support in four of his eight starts this season...beginning with relief appearance against his former team on June 6 vs. Houston, 29 of his final 30 outings would be in relief...lone start in that span came July 16 at Pittsburgh (ND, 4.0 ip, 9 h, 6 r-4 er) in Rockies' 10-8 win, when he was filling in for Jason Hirsh, on the DL with a sprained right ankle...beginning June 6, had a 2.32 ERA (42.2 ip, 11 er) over his final 28 relief appearances... allowed one run in 5.0 relief innings on Aug. 9 vs. Chicago-NL, saving bullpen in Rockies' 10-2 loss...the 5.0 innings matched longest relief outing by a Rockie in '07...had a scoreless streak of 12.0 innings from Aug. 9-24, longest by a Rox reliever this season...tossed 3.1 shutout innings in relief win on Aug. 21 vs. Pittsburgh...did not pitch for 12 days from Aug. 29-Sept. 9 due to right elbow inflammation...returned to mound on Sept. 10 at Philadelphia, taking loss in his first big league appearance in his hometown, as he is from nearby Lower Merion, Pa.
