Spent most of the season in Cin, where he made 19 starts and 2 relief apps...began the year at Class AAA Louisville and in 3 starts there went 0-1, 3.94 before he was promoted on 4/24... for the Reds went 4-6, 4.22 in 16 starts and 1 relief appearance prior to the All-Star break...following his start on 7/5 at Mil, his final appearance prior to the break, was optioned to Class A Dayton so he could make his next scheduled start on 7/10...was recalled in time to make his scheduled start to open the second half (7/16 vs Col)...opened the second half of the season 1-3, 9.12 in 7 apps before he was optioned to Louisville on 8/13...made 1 more start for Louisville before he went on the Bats' disabled list on 8/22 with right shoulder tendinitis...was recalled and placed on the Reds' 60-day disabled list on 9/4, when the Reds promoted OF Dewayne Wise...in his 19 starts the Reds went 10-9 and scored 87 runs (4.58 r/g)...had 10 quality starts...in 10 apps and 9 starts through 6/14 was 2-5 despite a 3.44era...in his next 11 apps and 10 starts went 2-4, 7.53 before he was optioned to Louisville on 8/13...on 4/24 at Wsh made his season debut and threw a career-high 7+ innings to earn his first Major League victory (4-2 win)...didn't go to a 2-0 or 3-1 count on any of his 28 batters...in the seventh inning singled off Livan Hernandez for his first career hit...became the first Reds pitcher to record his first career hit and first career victory in the same game since Jeff Austin on 5/1/03 at Col...when recalled on 4/24 pitched in the spot in the starting rotation vacated by LHP Eric Milton, who went on the 15-day disabled list following arthroscopic knee surgery...after Milton was reinstated from the DL remained in the rotation in the spot of LHP Dave Williams, who was designated for assignment...remained in the rotation until he returned to Louisville following his start on 8/12...made his last appearance for the Reds on 8/12 at Phi, in his shortest career start received no decision in the 9-7 win (1.1ip, 5h, 5er, 1bb, 0k, Dellucci 2-run HR, Rollins 3-run HR)...following that game was optioned to Louisville...the night before, as the Reds' ninth pitcher of the game, he threw 15 pitches in the 14th inning of the 6-5 loss...on 6/14 vs Mil, in one of the best starts of his career threw 8.0 shutout innings in the 11-inning, 3-0 win (5h, 1bb, 10k)...the 8.0 innings pitched and 10 strikeouts were career highs...retired 16 of his last 18 batters...on 7/27 at Hou recorded 7 consecutive outs by strikeout (Huff, Wilson, Scott, Munson, Everett, Albers, Biggio)...was the longest single-game streak by a Reds pitcher since LHP John Smiley had 7 straight Ks on 8/27/96 at Col and the longest by a Reds righthander since Jim Maloney struck out 8 straight batters on 5/21/63 at Mil...Ramirez' streak was the longest single-game streak by any pitcher in the Major Leagues since Chi's Kerry Wood recorded 7 straight punchouts on 4/11/04 vs the Braves.
2005
Spent most of the season at Class AAA Louisville..ranked ninth in the International League in ERA (3.77)....made 6 apps and 4 starts during 2 stints with the Reds, including 0-3, 6.75 in 3 starts and 2 relief apps from 5/11-6/3 and a spot start on 7/4...in his 4 starts the Reds went 1-3 and scored 21 runs (5.3 r/ g)...began the season at Louisville and went 2-1, 3.32 in 6 starts before he was recalled on 5/11, when Rich Aurilia went on the 15-day disabled list...made his Reds debut in relief on 5/11 vs SD and then took the spot in the starting rotation vacated by the injured Brandon Claussen (sprained ankle) and stayed in the rotation for 2 more starts after Paul Wilson went on the disabled list (right shoulder)...returned to Louisville on 6/9, when Luke Hudson came off the DL...made the spot start on 7/4 at SF and received no decision in the 11-10 victory (3.2ip, 8h, 7er, 2bb, 0k, Durham HR)...was recalled earlier that day and was optioned back to the minors after the game...that start was preceded by a doubleheader a couple days earlier...on 5/15 at Phi, in his first Major League start suffered the 4-3 loss (6ip, 7h, 2er, 2bb, 4k, Utley HR, Abreu HR)....while with Louisville was named International League Pitcher of the Week for 4/7-4/17 (2gs, 1-0, 0.00, 14ip, 11h, 0r, 0bb, 9k)...following the season played for Gigantes in the Dominican Winter League (7g, 0-5, 6.51, 27.2ip, 10k).
2004
Began season with Class A Clearwater (A) and ranked among the Florida State League leaders in innings pitched (59.0, 1st), victories (5, T1st) and ERA (2.44, 6th) when he was recalled by the Phillies on 5/ 23...earned that promotion by winning his last 3 starts for Clearwater and by posting a 1.73era in his last 6 starts...threw at least 7.0ip in each of those 6 starts...made his Major League debut on 5/25 at NYM, in relief retired all 3 batters faced (1k)...from 5/25-6/18 made all 7 of his relief apps for the Phillies before he was optioned to Class AA Reading on 6/25...threw at least 2.0 innings in 5 of his 7 apps for Phi...made 8 starts for Reading before he was traded to the Reds on 8/11 and assigned to Class AA Chattanooga...finished the minor league season with the Lookouts and went 1-0, 3.19 in his 5 starts there, including a complete-game 3-hitter in a 9-inning, 1-0 win at Birmingham on 8/30 (3bb, 5k).
2003
At Class A Clearwater led the Florida State League in innings pitched (157.1) and ranked T2nd in victories (13)...led his staff in starts (25)...in his last 11 starts posted a 2.11era and did not allow a home run... allowed 2er or fewer in 14 of his 27 apps, including 9 of his last 11 starts...in 19 of his 27 apps did not walk a batter...in 18 of his 27 apps threw at least 6.0ip...recorded 101 strikeouts and just 33 walks...went 4-1 in April...on 5/6 vs Dunedin threw a complete game...was rated by Baseball America as the eighth-best prospect in Phillies organization.
2002
During spring training was the recipient of the Larry Rojas Award...was a Gulf Coast League All-Star...led the league in ERA (1.10) and innings pitched (73.1), ranked second in strikeouts (73) and ranked T2nd in victories (7)...recorded 73 strikeouts and just 2 walks...GCL opponents hit just .165... was the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July (4-0, 0.79, 34ip, 15h, 1bb, 37k)...from 6/26-7/25 won 5 consecutive starts...on 7/8 vs Royals had a season-high 11 strikeouts...in the GCL playoffs threw a 7-inning shutout...was rated by
Baseball America
as the seventh-best prospect in the league and the ninth-best prospect in the Phillies organization.

Tied for the Dominican Summer League lead in wins (9), ranked fifth in innings pitched (79.0) and 10th in ERA (1.48)...led the team in wins, ERA, innings pitched and strikeouts (81).
