Spent majority of season with triple-A Colorado Springs, however did make 2 separate appearances with Colorado, going 2-1 with 12.46 ERA (12er, 8.2ip) in 9 big league games...was recalled to Rockies on April 29 and made 7 relief appearances, posting 2-1 record with 19.06 figure (12er, 5.2ip)...was optioned to triple-A May 15 where he spent majority of his season...logged 3-2 record with 2.92 ERA (21er, 64.2ip) in 51 relief appearances for Sky Sox...allowed just 3 earned runs over 26.1 innings (1.03 ERA) covering his final 21 games...was recalled final time to big league roster Sept. 4 and appeared in 2 games with Rockies, tossing 3.0-scoreless innings.
2006
After beginning the season in the Kansas City organization, Bautista was acquired at the July 31 trade deadline and split the rest of the season with Triple-A Colorado Springs and the Rockies...he combined to go 0-3 with a 5.62 ERA (41.2 ip, 26 er) in 12 games/eight starts in the majors...was his most appearances in the big leagues in one season...was 0-3, 5.61 (33.2 ip, 21 er) in eight starts and 0-0, 5.63 (8.0 ip, 5 er) in 4 relief appearances...began the year on Kansas City's Opening Day roster for the second straight season...appeared in 8 games for the Royals, making seven starts...was 0-2 with a 5.66 ERA (35.0 ip, 22 er) and 22 strikeouts against 17 walks...recorded a no decision in his first start of the season on April 8 vs. the White Sox, a 4-3 Royals victory...allowed just one run on one hit over 6.0 innings of work...made two starts to begin the season, but was then placed on the 15-day disabled list and missed 21 games from April 14-May 7 with a sore right pectoral muscle...went 0-1 with a 6.38 ERA (24.0 ip, 17 er) in six games/five starts after being reinstated from DL...took no decision on May 30 at Oakland, matching career high by allowing six runs...was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on June 8 and went 2-5 with a 7.36 ERA (44.0 ip, 36 er) in 10 starts...made final appearance for Omaha on July 30 and was traded to Colorado the following day...was assigned to Triple-A Colorado Springs and posted a 1-4 record with a 4.50 ERA (36.0 ip, 18 er) in six starts...made his Sky Sox debut on Aug. 6 vs. Albuquerque, receiving no decision despite blanking the Isotopes through 6.0 innings...tossed 6.0 or more innings in five of his six starts and recorded at least 6 strikeouts in 4 outings...had his contract purchased from Colorado Springs on Sept. 7 and made his first career N.L. start on Sept. 12 at San Francisco...took loss after allowing six runs (1 er) in just 1.2 innings pitched...allowed all six runs in the second inning as he gave up three walks and a pair of run scoring doubles in an inning that also included an error by Garrett Atkins...appeared in just three more games for the Rockies, all in relief...finished each of those three games, allowing four runs (3 er) in 5.0 innings.

Made the Opening Day roster for the 1st time in his career...Held right-handed batters to a .220 (13-59) average, while left-handers hit .288 (23-80)...Began the 2005 season on a high note, winning his debut at Los Angeles on April 8 after tossing 8.0 innings of 1-run baseball...allowed 3 hits, no walks and struck out a career-best 8 batters... his 8.0 innings were also a career high...retired 14 straight batters after a double in the 4th inning...Took a no decision in a 4-3 Royals loss on April 24 vs. Chicago despite allowing just 2 runs on 2 hits in 7.0 innings...allowed just 4 baserunners in innings 2 through 7...Picked up his 2nd win of the season and snapped the Royals 9-game losing streak at Cleveland on April 30...allowed just 1 run on 5 hits in 6.0 innings in the Royals 8-1 win...Took his 2nd loss of the season May 6 at Baltimore (3.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER)...was the 1st start of his career in which he did not record a strikeout...Threw 2.1 innings at Toronto on May 11 before leaving with right shoulder soreness...Placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on May 14 with right shoulder tendinitis... was transferred to the 60-Day D.L. on July 25...Was 0-1 with a 2.77 ERA (13.0 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 6 BB, 12 SO) in 6 rehab starts for Omaha from June 22-July 3 and Aug. 27-Sept. 5.
