Played baseball and basketball at St. Xavier High School in Louisville...played baseball at the University of Tennessee and helped the Volunteers to an appearance in the 2001 College World Series...was a 2-time All-American at UT...in 2001 was a unanimous choice as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and was a finalist for the 2001 Rotary Smith Award.
2009
Made 32 apps for the Padres and 83 apps in Class AAA for Sea's Tacoma affiliate and Atl's Gwinnett club...went to spring training with SD...on 3/29 was traded to the Mariners for cash...was returned to SD for cash on 4/21, when Padres IF Everth Cabrera broke his left hand...on 6/8 was outrighted off the Padres' roster and the next day elected free agency...on 6/18 signed a minor league contract with the Braves and spent the rest of the season at Gwinnett...on 12/4 was signed by the Reds to a minor league contract with an invitation to 2010 Major League spring training camp.

For the Diamondbacks played all 4 infield spots plus LF and RF...made his first career apps at 1B and 3B...committed just 1 error in 193 total chances at SS (.995)...on 8/14 at Col and 8/15 at Hou homered in consecutive games for the first time in his career.
