Spent the entire season at Double-A Midland and posted career highs in runs (84), triples (9), home runs (5) and RBI (58)...also struck out a career high 135 times...led the Rockhounds in triples and stolen bases (22), was second in games (132), at bats (510), runs and strikeouts and tied for second in total bases (185) and sacrifice hits (12)...was fourth in the Texas League in triples...tied for third in the A's farm system in stolen bases...batted .263 and added 56 walks for a .344 on-base percentage...committed 33 errors which ranked second most among all minor league second basemen to Callix Crabbe of Beloit in the Midwest League (36)...appeared in 116 games at second base, eight at shortstop and two at third base...also hit .313 (10 for 32) in seven games as a designated hitter...saw most of his playing time hitting in the first two spots in the order...batted .252 (74 for 294) hitting leadoff and .279 (36 for 129) batting second...batted .300 (36 for 120) in May with 21 RBI in 29 games...had a season high nine-game hitting streak from July 19 to 28 but hit just .270 (10 for 37) during the streak...hit three of his five home runs in August...played for the Mesa Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League following the season and hit .321 with a home run and nine RBI in 16 games...had a .566 slugging percentage and .419 on-base percentage.

Had career highs in batting (.306), games (135), at bats (539), hits (165), doubles (26), walks (64) and stolen bases (41) at Single-A Visalia...his batting average was second best in the A's farm system and he led the A's system with 41 steals...tied for first in the California League in games played, ranked second in at bats, hits and stolen bases and was sixth in batting average...was caught stealing 21 times which tied for ninth most in all of minor league baseball...led Visalia in batting average, games, at bats, hits, sacrifice hits (15) and stolen bases and was second in runs (83), triples (5) and on-base percentage (.385)...batted leadoff for most of the season (147 for 495, .297)...average improved to .342 with runners on base...appeared in 134 games at second base and committed 36 errors for a .948 fielding percentage...hit .337 in June, .304 in July and .380 with 17 RBI, 14 doubles and 14 stolen bases in 29 games in August...had four hitting streaks of 10 or more games, including a season high 13-game hitting streak from July 31 to August 13 (21 for 60, .350)...went 2 for 8 (.250) with a triple and a walk in two playoff games for Visalia...played for Phoenix in the Arizona Fall League and hit .146 (6 for 41) in 11 games.

Played for Single-A Modesto and tied for fifth in the California League with seven triples...added 28 stolen bases which was fifth most in the A's organization...tied for the Modesto team lead in triples and ranked second in stolen bases...batted .261 with two home runs and 46 RBI in 120 games...both of the home runs came in his 97 at bats off left handed pitching...was homerless in 343 at bats against right-handers...hit .462 (6 for 13) with two walks and 16 RBI with the bases loaded...saw most of his action batting leadoff (34 for 155, .219) and ninth (36 for 147, .245), but had his best success hitting second (33 for 98, .337)...committed 20 errors in 68 games at shortstop (.919 fielding percentage) and 21 errors in 53 games at second base (.922)...also appeared in five games at third base.

2000

Was the shortstop on the Northwest League postseason All-Star team in his first professional season at Vancouver...tied for fifth in the league in runs scored (52)...led the Canadians in at bats (281), runs, hits (72), total bases (87) and stolen bases (22)...appeared in 72 games, including 68 at shortstop where he committed 29 errors for a .917 fielding percentage...hit his first professional home run on June 30 against Portland...reached base safely via hit or walk in 26 of 27 games from July 9 to August 7...batted .345 with 28 runs scored over that stretch...had 13 of his 26 RBI during a 12-game span from July 22 to August 4.
