Class A Sarasota and Class AA Chattanooga combined to finish 5-9, 4.20 in 25 starts...began the
season at Sarasota...on 5/10 was transferred to Chattanooga...while with the Lookouts ranked ninth in the Southern
League in ERA (3.53)...from 5/26-6/9 was on Chattanooga's disabled list with a strained rib cage muscle...on 12/21

Spent the season on the Reds' disabled list, first while recovering from 9/29/03 arthroscopic surgery to repair
the torn superior labrum in his right shoulder and then while recovering from 7/27/04 arthroscopic surgery to remove
scar tissue from that shoulder.

On 9/29 had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder (Dr. Timothy Kremchek)...was 1 of 13 Reds
players to make his Major League debut and 1 of 9 Reds players in the last 3 seasons to make his Major League debut
while skipping Class AAA...began the season at Class AA Chattanooga, where he went 6-8, 3.20 with 1cg in 20 starts
and 1 relief appearance before he was recalled on 8/2 to make his Major League debut in a spot start vs SF (Ryan
Dempster injured)...following that start on 8/2 returned to Chattanooga and went 2-2, 4.50 in his last 5 starts there
before he rejoined the Reds on 9/6...made his first appearance of his second stint with the Reds in relief, on 9/6 at
StL, then finished the season with 4 straight starts (0-2, 6.75)...his ML debut on 8/2 vs SF was his first professional

fifth-best ratio among Southern League starters...began the season at Stockton
and was promoted to Chattanooga on 5/12.

At Class A Dayton went 11-5, 2.65 with 2cg in 22 starts...led the Midwest League and ranked third among all Reds minor league pitchers in ERA...also ranked among the organizational leaders in wins (4th, 11) and strikeouts (5th, 122)...ranked third in the league in complete games...twice was honored as the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Week (6/4-6/10, 7/2-7/8)...in 9 starts from 6/25-8/7 went 7-0, 0.76...in a 7-4 victory on 8/7 at Cedar Rapids recorded a season-high 14 strikeouts (8ip)...also had a pair of 10-strikeout performances (6/4 vs Fort Wayne, 7/27 vs Clinton).
