2007

Was acquired from the San Diego Padres organization in the Milton Bradley trade at the end of June and was promoted to Oakland in mid-July...spent the remainder of the season with the A's and was 3-3 with a 4.54 ERA in 33 relief appearances...allowed just one home run in 41.2 innings for an average of 0.22 per nine innings...that mark ranked fifth lowest among American League relievers...added 43 strikeouts for an average of 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings...allowed a .245 opponents batting average, which included a .247 (22 for 89) mark against right-handed hitters and .242 (16 for 66) against left-handers...his opponents average increased slightly to .264 with runners in scoring position but dropped to .200 with RISP and two outs...allowed just 2 of his 16 inherited runners to score (12.5%) but first batters faced were 11 for 31 (.355) with a walk and a hit by pitch...also had two blown saves...compiled an 8.22 ERA in eight appearances on no days rest and had a 3.71 ERA in his others 25 outings...had a .283 opponents batting average over his first 15 pitches in a game and .179 after that...had six wild pitches, which tied for fourth most among AL relievers...tossed one or more innings in 29 of his 33 outings, including two or more seven times...his career high was 2.1 innings on August 5 against Los Angeles...was selected from Triple-A Sacramento on July 12 and made his A's debut that night at Minnesota (0.2 ip, 1 so)...allowed three runs without retiring a batter in his third outing on July 17 against Texas but then did not allow a run in 11 of his next 12 outings (1 er in 18.2 ip, 0.48 ERA), including a 10-game, 15.0-inning scoreless streak from July 25 to August 14...recorded his first Major League win on August 1 against Detroit...relieved Braden in the sixth inning with a runner on the third and the A's leading 2-1 and allowed an Ordonez RBI single for the blown save...the A's scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead and give him the win...added win number two three outings later on August 6 at Texas when he tossed 2.0 scoreless innings and struck out a career high five...had a streak from August 2 to 14 where he retired 26 of 28 batters faced, including 11 by strikeout...was 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA and a .151 opponents batting average in 15 games through August 14...then went 1-3 with a 7.52 ERA and .329 opponents average over his final 18 outings...did not allow a run in 13 of his first 15 outings, but allowed at least one run in eight of his final 18...first batters were 3 for 15 (.200) through August 14 and 8 for 16 (.500) with a walk and a hit by pitch after that...had a career opening 37-game, 45.1-inning, 192-batter homerless streak come to an end on September 16 against Texas when he allowed a Michael Young grand slam in the eighth inning for the blown save and loss in a 11-9 decision...the four runs allowed were a career high...was acquired by the A's from the San Diego organization on June 29 for Milton Bradley and cash considerations...was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento and converted all four of his save opportunities in five outings before his promotion to Oakland...had a 3.60 ERA and allowed a .300 opponents batting average without walking a batter in 5.0 innings...began the season with the Padres Triple-A affiliate in Portland and was 2-3 with a 2.78 ERA in 32 appearances...combined for a 2-3 record, four saves, one blown save and a 2.95 ERA in 37 appearances with the Beavers and River Cats...walked 15 while striking out 49 in 40.2 innings (10.8 strikeouts per nine innings)...allowed a .213 opponents batting average, which broke down to .167 (15 for 90) by right-handed hitters and .283 (17 for 60) by lefthanders... opponents were 7 for 40 (.145) with runners in scoring position, including 1 for 17 (.059) with RISP and two outs...posted a 0.59 ERA in April, a 7.36 ERA in May and a 1.64 ERA in June...allowed 2 of 9 (22.2%) inherited runners to score...tossed at least one inning in 33 of his 37 outings...did not allow an earned run over a 13-game stretch from April 7 to May 11 (17.2 ip)...struck out a minor league high four batters in April 7 at Fresno...his longest Triple-A outing came on April 17 against Sacramento when he tossed 2.1 shutout innings and picked up the win.

2006

Brown spent the first four and a half months at Triple-A Buffalo before making his big-league debut on Aug. 13, and spending the rest of the season in Cleveland. He compiled a mark of 5-4 with five saves and a 2.60 ERA in 39 appearances for the Bisons. With the Indians, seven of his nine outings were scoreless, and he held batters to a .171 average.

2005

Spent nearly the entire minor league season with the AAA Buffalo Bisons, his first season pitching exclusively in relief after impressing the staff in his first Indians Spring Training camp (3G, 3.0IP, 0H, 0R, 4K)...Went 4-2 w/a 3.36 ERA and 4 saves in 49 relief appearances (69.2IP, 52H, 26ER, 19BB, 81K, 7HR) for the Bisons, limiting Triple A hitters to a .204 (52-255, 7HR) average against...Averaged 10.5 strikeouts per 9.0IP and limited hitters to a .172 (16-93) average against with runners on base...Batters hit .192 (10-52) off him with RISP and .148 (4-27) with RISP-2outs...Worked a season-high 4.0IP on June 3 vs. Columbus and fanned a season-high 5 on July 17 at Toledo (2.0IP)...Over his last 24 appearances from June 23 on he was 3-0 w/a 1.32 ERA (34.0IP, 13H, 5ER, 34K)...His season ERA was 5.30 after giving up 4 runs (4ER) in 2.1IP on June 19 at Indianapolis...Allowed earned runs in only 3 of his remaining 24 outings...He was on the big league roster from August 20-23 and from Sept. 2-thru the remainder of the season, but did not pitch...Yet to appear in a Major League game.

2004

Began the year at AA Jacksonville of the Southern League where he made 8 starts, going 1-3 w/a 4.02 ERA (40.1IP, 36H, 18ER, 5HR, 14BB, 58SO)...At the time of the trade he was leading Southern League in strikeouts (58) and averaged 12.9 SO per 9.0 innings pitched...He fanned 10 in 4.0 innings in his season debut on April 8 (vs. Tennessee) and 13 on April 19 (@Greenville) in 6.0 innings of work (struck out 13 of 22 batters faced w/0 walks allowed)...He limited SL hitters to a .232 (36-155) average against and was 1-1 w/a 2.52 ERA in 5 April starts (25.0IP, 17H, 7ER, 7BB, 44K). Spent the remainder of the season at AA Akron save a spot start at AAA Buffalo on August 8 (win at Syracuse, 5.0IP, 4H, 0R, 3BB, 4K)...Struck out 15 batters over his first two starts at AA Akron in 9.2 innings (3H, 2R/ER, 4BB, 15K), winning for the first time on May 30 at Harrisburg... Allowed 6 runs and 4 hits in 0.2IP (4BB, 1K) on June 15 vs. Binghamton and was placed on the minor league DL w/shoulder fatigue...Was activated on June 30 for start at Binghamton (3.0IP, 5H, 3R). Lost 6 straight decisions with Akron from June 4 to August 15 and did not win from May 31 to August 20...Was 0-2 w/a 3.38 ERA in 5 July starts (21.1IP, 21H, 8ER, 24K)...Fanned 8 in 5.0IP on July 11 at Erie...Was 2-0 w/a 2.74 ERA over his final 4 starts of the season (23.0IP, 16H, 7ER, 11K) from August 21 thru end of minor league campaign...Overall on the year minor league hitters hit just .228 (106-464) w/12HR allowed...RH hitters hit .240 (64-267) and LH hitters hit .213 (42-197)...Batters hit .237 (27-114) off him with RISP... After the season was named the 10th best prospect in the Indians organization by Baseball America.

2003

Limited to just 1 start (1.0IP) in 2003 (4/7/03) due to a right elbow injury that eventually required surgery... First DL'd with a strained flexor tendon mass before having surgery on 6/27 to remove a bone spur.

2002

Was by Los Angeles Dodgers prior to the 2002 season along with Brian Jordan and Odalis Perez in a trade that sent Gary Sheffield to the Atlanta Braves...Enjoyed his best minor league season in 2002 at A Vero Beach, going 10-10 with a 4.11 ERA in 25 games/24 starts (127.0IP, 97, 58ER, 62BB, 129K, .215 avg against)...He was 2nd in the Florida State League in strikeouts (129) and 3rd in lowest average against by a starter (.219)...He was also 3rd in strikeouts per 9.0IP (9.0K/9.0IP)...Added to the 40-man roster after the season by LA.

Pitched in 14 games for A Jamestown in the NYPL...Held opponents to a .215 average...Also appeared in 2 games at first base...
