Matthew William Cepicky... graduated from Vianney High School (MO)... attended Southwest Missouri State University... garnered All-American honors in 1999, after becoming the first player in Missouri Valley Conference history to win the Triple Crown... led his conference with a .414 batting average, 30 home runs and 100 RBI... played for Chatham of the Cape Cod League in 1998, where he was named his team MVP, the league All-Star MVP and MVP of the playoffs, leading his team to the league title... married Nikki Henry on October 12, 2002... enjoys hunting and fishing.
2005
Spent time with Washington Nationals and New Orleans (AAA) during season... batted combined .267 with 14 home runs and 71 RBI in 110 games... Enjoyed two stints with the Nationals, both of which lasted fewer than 10 days... hit .240 (6x25) with three RBI in 11 games... was with Washington from July 4-14 and July 31 to August 8... posted three doubles in only 25 at-bats... notched two hits, including a double, and 3 RBI in an 8-7 win at Philadelphia on July 8... two days later, on July 10 at Philadelphia, posted two more hits, including third double of season... was outrighted to New Orleans on July 14 with the acquisition of Preston Wilson from Colorado... Batted .269 with 14 home runs and 68 RBI in 99 games with New Orleans... went 2x2 with two home runs and three RBI on June 16 at Iowa... had best month in June, batting .300 (30x100) with seven home runs and 22 RBI in 29 games... Split season between Montreal and Edmonton (AAA)... batted .217 with one home run and three RBI in 32 games with Expos... two hits and two RBI accounted for the offense in 2-0 win vs. Philadelphia on April 25... hit third career pinch-hit homer on May 28 at Cincinnati off Mike Matthews... went 2x19 (.105) as pinch-hitter... batted .266 with 15 home runs and 67 RBI in 82 games at Edmonton.

Spent the majority of the season at Edmonton, hitting .301 with seven home runs and 64 RBI in 122 games... was recalled by the Expos on July 12... batted .250 (2x8) with Montreal... went back to Edmonton on July 21... played in the big leagues for the second straight year, although only five games in 10 days... started one game in left field and went 2x4 with a double on July 20 at Philadelphia, but the Expos lost, 3-2... went 0x3 in a pinch-hitting role... played first season at Triple-A level... hit above .300 for the second time in five professional seasons... ranked eighth in the Expos system in batting... batted .300 or better in April (.304), June (.329) and July (.319)... had season-high 10-game hit streak from April 17-29, going 16x41 (.390) with two home runs and nine RBI... drove in season-high four runs on April 29 vs. Nashville... posted game-winning RBI in 2-1 win on August 29 vs. Portland... the win resulted in Edmonton's second straight Northern Division title... started 93 games in the outfield for the Trappers... also started twice at first base.

Made his debut in the Major Leagues July 31 versus Arizona...struck out swinging against Randy Johnson in his first big-league plate appearance... skipped over the Triple-A level when promoted to the Expos from Harrisburg (AA) on July 31after the trade of Cliff Floyd to the Boston Red Sox... made a significant contribution in left field, while also being used successfully in a pinch-hitting role, batting .333 (6x18) with two doubles, two home runs and four RBI... played 17 games in the outfield, starting 14 in left field... picked up his first Major League hit August 7 at St. Louis' Busch Stadium, hitting a single to left field in the fourth inning off Jason Simontacchi... was his first start, getting the nod in left field... hit his first career home run off San Diego's Jason Kershner August 16, picking up the pinch-hit blast in the seventh inning... hit the ball an estimated 411 feet, off a television camera platform rooftop in straightaway center field... hit his second homer August 21 at Colorado, hitting a pinch-hit blast for two runs at the expense of Colorado's Mark Corey in the sixth inning... helped give the Expos a 13-5 victory over the Rockies at Coors Field... picked up three hits September 13 against the New York Mets at Olympic Stadium, marking the most hits he's hit in a Major League contest... facing the Mets' Pedro Astacio in the first inning September 15 at Olympic Stadium, hit his first career grand slam... batted .277 with 16 home runs and 76 RBI in 109 games with Harrisburg.
2001
Played the entire season with the Harrisburg Senators while starring in left field... was voted the Senators' MVP by his teammates... established career highs in home runs (19) and triples (8)... finished tied for second among Eastern League batters in triples... homered in two straight games twice in the same week, May 8-9 and May 12-13, winning the league's Player of the Week honors in the process... did not commit an error in 61 consecutive games from May 26 to August 8... collected a nine-game hitting streak from June 2-10, notching 17 base hits in 39 at-bats for a .436 average... played in the Arizona Fall League, where he hit .304 (31x102) with three home runs and 24 RBI in 27 games.
2000
Led the Jupiter Hammerheads (A) in RBI (88) while hitting .299... led the Florida State League in plate appearances (536), while ranking second in hits (160), fourth in RBI and fifth in total bases (221)... finished the season with a 15-game hitting streak, batting .349 in that span... was named to the FSL's All-Star team as a utility player.
