2009

Missed the entire 2009 season...arrived at Spring Training recovering from 2008 hip surgery, but did not pitch in a Major League spring game because of elbow problems...Dr. Lewis Yocum performed arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow March 31 and he was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27 to start the season...it was his fifth stint on the DL over the last four years...was transferred to the 60-day DL April 29 but his comeback from the elbow surgery was delayed by back issues...began a rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton July 26 at San Jose and retired all six batters he faced (2.0 ip, 2 so)...made his second rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento Aug. 9 against New Orleans and tossed 4.0 scoreless innings (2 h, 1 bb, 3 so)...his final start came Aug. 13 in the Arizona Rookie League against San Francisco and he tossed 5.0 shutout innings (4 h, 3 so)...did not yield a run in 11.0 innings in three rehab starts and allowed a .162 (6 for 37) opponents batting average...issued just one walk and struck out eight...on Aug. 21, it was announced that he would not pitch the rest of the season after being diagnosed with clinical depression.

2006

Duchscherer missed 42 games when he was on the disabled list, but was very productive as the A's setup man during 53 appearances. He stepped in as the closer when Huston Street went on the DL with a pulled groin, and he finished the season with a career-high nine saves. The first batters he faced went 6-for-52 (.115), for third best in Oakland history. Duchscherer issued nine walks in 55 2/3 innings, 1.46 per nine innings, which ranked third lowest among American League relievers. He allowed a .244 opponents batting average and a .175 opponents batting average with runners in scoring position.

2005

1999

Combined to go 11-7 with a 3.35 ERA in 26 games with Augusta and Sarasota...was the Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month in April, going 2-0 with a 0.35 ERA in four starts at Augusta...earned South Atlantic League pitcher of the week honors, April 12-18...had allowed just one run in 41 innings in his six starts at Augusta when he was promoted to Sarasota on May 10...placed second on the Red Sox staff in strikeouts (105) and had the 2nd lowest ERA among team starters (4.49).

Went a combined 3-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 14 games, 12 starts with the Gulf Coast Red Sox and Michigan...fanned 78 in 68.2 innings...led the Gulf Coast squad in starts (8) and was second in strikeouts (59) before an August promotion to Michigan.

Made his pro debut with the Gulf Coast Red Sox and was 0-2 with a save and a 3.13 ERA in 13 games, eight starts...went to Instructional League that fall.
