and a lesion from base of his right thumb (Dr. Tim Kremchek, Dr. Peter Stern)...didn't play again until 8/24...on 9/13
and 9/14 missed 2g with pink eye...after 8/31 tied Adam Dunn for the team lead in HR (6) and ranked third among
Reds hitters in RBI (16)...overall appeared in 64g, including 59 starts...led the Reds with 59 starts in RF...in the batting

Following the 2001 season was named to the Arizona Fall League
All-Prospect Team as selected by the managers and coaches...for the
Grand Canyon Rafters led the prestigious league on-base percentage
(.460) and ranked second in hitting (.371)...also ranked among AFL
leaders in slugging percentage (.578, 3rd), hits (43, 4th), RBIs
(31, 4th) and runs scored (27, 5th) and led his team in hitting,
doubles (10), RBIs, walks (19), on-base percentage and slugging...in
a Baseball America poll, his throwing arm was voted the best

In May suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right
