2003
Began the season at Class AAA Louisville and went 1-1, 1.74 in 6 relief apps before he was
promoted as 1 of 7 player transactions on 4/19 following a day/night doubleheader loss to the Expos in San
Juan...made 12 relief apps for the Reds before he returned to Louisville on 5/27, when Jimmy Haynes came off the
disabled list...was promoted again on 6/25, when Gabe White went on the DL, and spent the rest of the season with
Cin...made his only start in his final appearance of the
season, on 9/27 vs Mtl threw 5.0 shutout innings to earn
the 4-2 victory...became the 17th pitcher to start a game
for the Reds, extending the franchise single-season record
to its final total...as a reliever for the Reds retired the
first batter 28-41 times and stranded 13-20 inherited
baserunners...converted his only save opportunity...in the
12-4 win on 9/16 at Pit threw 2.1 scoreless innings to
earn his first Major League save...in the 7-6, 10-inning
win on 5/9 vs Mil picked up his first Major League victory
to snap an 0-7 skid to begin his career...was the first
Reds pitcher ever to begin his career with an 0-7
record...while with Louisville earned his first professional

Combined to go 8-13, 5.02 in 26 starts and 1 relief appearance for the Reds' Class AAA affiliate in Louisville
and the Phillies' Class AAA affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre...began the season in the Reds organization...was
claimed off waivers by Phi on 7/11...made his 4 starts at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, then was claimed off waivers by the
Reds on 8/6...from 5/13-5/20 was on Louisville's disabled list with a strained right triceps muscle...was designated for
assignment on 1/12/03, when the Reds signed RHP Paul Wilson...cleared waivers on 1/17 and was outrighted to
Louisville.

Combined to go 12-8, 2.59 with 1 shutout in 28 starts at Class
A Tampa and Dayton and Class AA Chattanooga...spent most of the season at Tampa and went 9-4, 2.18 with 1 shutout in 18 starts before he was traded to the Reds on 7/12...at the time of the trade led the Tampa staff in starts...finished the season in the Reds organization and combined to go 3-4, 3.36 in 10 starts at Dayton and Chattanooga...established career highs in almost every pitching category, including victories (12), starts (28), innings pitched (184.0) and strikeouts (159)...among all minor league pitchers ranked 10th in innings pitched...led the Florida State League with
a 2.18era, ranked fourth with a runners-per-9 innings ratio of 10.45 and ranked T5th with 1 shutout...from 4/16-5/26 at Tampa won 6 straight decisions, including 4 straight starts from 5/11-5/26.
