Spent time at both Class AA Portland (Marlins) and Class AAA Iowa (Cubs) ... was traded by Florida to the Cubs with pitcher David Noyce in return for Henry Rodriguez on 7/31/00 ... batted .404 with 14 home runs and 39 RBI in just 28 games at Iowa following the trade ... homered in back-to-back games three times, including two each on 8/18 at Nashville and 8/19 vs. Salt Lake ... was 4-5 with three doubles, a home run and four RBI on 8/26 at New Orleans ... ranked fifth in the Eastern League with a .494 slugging percentage ... compiled a 12-game hitting streak from 7/13-24 (.438, 21-48) ... hit six home runs with 28 RBI in July ... homered twice with four RBI on 6/3 at New Britain and went 4-5 on 7/17 at Reading.
