Spent the entire season at Sacramento, the fourth consecutive season he has spent most of his year at the Triple-A level...batted .283 with nine home runs and 72 RBI with the River Cats...the batting average was the lowest mark of his career and it marked just the second time he has hit under .300 over a full season (.285 in 1996)...led Sacramento in games (131), at bats (516) and hits (146) and ranked second in doubles (28) and total bases (201)...matched his career high with 64 walks...struck out 63 times, marking the fifth time in his eight minor league seasons he has finished with fewer strikeouts than walks...fared better on the road where he batted .306 (86 for 281) with six home runs and 45 RBI compared to .255 (60 for 235) with three home runs and 27 RBI at Raley Field...averaged improved slightly to .297 (47 for 158) with runners in scoring position...had two grand slams...batted at every spot in the order from third through seventh...saw his most extensive action hitting clean-up (64 for 249, .257) and fifth (39 for 140, .279) but had his best batting average when hitting third (29 for 71, .408)...saw all of his playing time at third base where he appeared in 131 games and committed 14 errors for a .957 fielding percentage...was in the major league camp with the A's during the spring and hit .341 (15 for 44) with two home runs and seven RBI in 26 games...was one of the last cuts as he was optioned to Sacramento on March 30...started slowly with the River Cats as he hit .232 in April and .229 in May, hitting just one home run in each month...average improved every month the rest of the way as he hit .282 in June, .299 in July and .370 in August before going 4 for 10 (.400) in two games in September...had three hits and five RBI on April 12 against Nashville and added another three hit game on April 16 against Las Vegas to bring his average to the .280 mark...then went 11 for 71 (.155) over his next 18 games to drop his average to .207...had four hits at Fresno on June 3...added a home run and three RBI and then homered and drove in four runs the next day against the Grizzlies...doubled in five consecutive games from June 12 to 15...hit .326 (14 for 43) with three home runs, 11 RBI and seven walks over a 10-game stretch from July 2 to 14...was hitting .257 entering play on July 30 and then put together a 13-game hitting streak from July 30 to August 13 (24 for 55, .436) to push his average to .278...finished the season with a six-game hitting streak (11 for 28, .393) to push his average to a season-ending and season-high .283.

1995-began his professional career with St. Paul of the Northern League before signing with independent Ogden of the Pioneer League...finished fourth in the league in batting (.357) and fifth in slugging (.555)...had the fifth best home run per at bat ratio in the league (1 per 26 at bats) and was also fifth toughest to strike out (1 per 10.25 plate appearances). 1996-tied for St. Catharines team lead with 17 doubles...hit .406 (26 for 64) with 3 HR and 18 RBI over a 17 game stretch from July 19 to August 6...hit safely in nine straight games, August 5 to 13 (14 for 37, .378). 1997-led the South Atlantic League in batting (.358), hits (180) and on-base percentage (.430), finished second in doubles (47), tied for second in runs (96), third in total bases (268) and extra base hits (62) and fourth in RBI (99) and slugging (.533)...was second in strikeouts per plate appearance (1 per 12.82)...led Hagerstown in games (136), at bats (503) and walks (60)...winner of the R. Howard Webster Award winner for an MVP season with a Blue Jays affiliate...opened the season in Syracuse and had three stints with Toronto...was recalled to Toronto on April 28 until May 18, appearing in seven games and batting .167 with a home run...made his major league debut on April 29 as a pinch hitter and was walked intentionally...first official at bat came on April 30 and he was 0 for 1 as a pinch hitter...had his first major league hit on May 5, a pinch hit single off the Mariners Arthur Rhodes...on May 13, he was 1 for 4 as the designated hitter with his first major league home run off Jamie Moyer...returned to Toronto from July 1 to August 3...in July, started 26 of 27 games at third base and hit .266 with four doubles, a home run and seven RBI...hit in a career high eight straight games from July 2 to 12...had back-to-back three-hit games on July 4 and 5 in Tampa Bay...was recalled to Toronto for the third time on September 4...appeared in six more games and hit .200...hit .265 against right handed pitching with two home runs and seven RBI and .194 against left handed pitching with a home run and three RBI...hit .182 at SkyDome and .297 on the road...batted .296 (8 for 27) with runners in scoring position.
