Attended Oklahoma State, San Diego City College and San Diego Mesa College...he and his father run a business, "Personal Pitcher," which makes pitching machines mostly for Little Leaguers. Has amassed 64 homers over the last three seasons (2007-09) with Durham to become the franchise's Triple-A career leader...is a career .463 hitter (25-for-54) with 5 HR and 14 RBI in 18 games at Tropicana Field.
2009
Appeared in 13 games (5 starts) for the Rays at first base, his first major league action in 6 years...spent entire season with Durham until his contract was selected on Sep 7 at NYY, as Carlos Peña headed to the 60-day DL with a fractured left hand...was recalled in between games of the Rays day-night doubleheader at Yankee Stadium...entered as a defensive replacement the night he was promoted and walked in his lone PA...led Bulls in HR, RBI and slugging...named Rays minor league Player of the Month for June (.342, 9-HR, 27-RBI).

Played 136 games in his first full season in the majors in 2001, splitting time between right field, center field, first base and designated hitter...Tied Jay Gibbons for the club lead with 15 home runs...also led the Orioles in doubles (31) and extra-base hits (49) while batting in the second through seventh spots in the lineup...Average reached a season-high .306 on May 11...after May 27, average did not go above .279 or below .260 for the remainder of the season...Matched his career high with four hits on July 7 vs. Philadelphia...was second on the Orioles with 32 multi-hit games...one of seven Orioles to steal 11 or more bases that season...he stole home on Aug. 31 vs. Seattle, the Orioles' first steal of home since he accomplished the feat on the final day of the 2000 season.

Spent the first four months of the 2000 season at Triple-A Memphis in the St. Louis Cardinals organization before being acquired by Baltimore along with pitcher Mark Nussbeck on July 29 in exchange for veteran RHP Mike Timlin...Played in 56 games for the Orioles and ranked among AL rookie leaders in total bases (9th, 112), runs (9th, 38) and hits (10th, 55)...Went 4-for-6 with a double, triple, two home runs and 6 RBI on Sep. 3 at Cleveland, missing hitting for the cycle by a single...Stole home on the front end of a double steal with Melvin Mora on October 1 against the New York Yankees...Was recalled by the Cardinals on July 17 and made his major league debut that night...became the 80th player in major league history to homer in his first at-bat when he connected off MIN Mike Lincoln on the first pitch.

Set career highs and led the Cards org. in home runs (30) and RBI (98) between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Memphis...was a Texas League All-Star.

Did not play until June 17 as he recovered from January surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder...had two other DL stints later in the season.
