In 1995 graduated from Passaic (NJ) High School, where he played baseball.
2007
Spent the majority of season as a relief pitcher with Cincinnati after going to camp as non-roster invitee... Did not allow a run in his first 6 games for the Reds & was 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA in 13 appearances through May 2...Surrendered runs in 9 of his next 11 outings before being designated for assignment on June 29...Was outrighted to AAA Louisville after clearing waivers...Posted a 1.93 ERA in 5 relief outings for Louisville before his contract was again selected by Cincinnati on July 27...Had 2 scoreless outings before allowing runs in 4 straight games & was designated for assignment on August 18, again being outrighted to Louisville...Made 3 starts for Louisville, going 1-1 with a 0.66 ERA (15.0IP, 1ER) before their season ended...Overall, was 1-1 with a 1.11 ERA in 8 games for Louisville and 1-4 with a 5.14 ERA in 32 relief appearances for Cincinnati (49.0IP, 28ER)...Contract was purchased by the Orioles on September 7 and he appeared in four games-- three starting assignments and one relief appearance...Went 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA (12.0IP, 12H, 12ER) in his 3 starts...Pitched a season-high 5.0 innings in a loss at Texas on September 21.
2006
For the Pirates went 4-9, 5.19 in 19 starts and 1-0, 9.69 in 6 relief apps...the club went 8-11 in his 19 starts...in June and July spent time on the 15-day disabled list with a strained rotator cuff in his right shoulder...after he came off the DL made 4 relief apps before re-joining the rotation...was the winning pitcher in Pit's first victory of the season, on 4/9 at Cin...the Bucs had begun 0-6...earned his first Major League win in relief in the 18-inning contest on 5/27 vs Hou, when he threw a scoreless inning...on 10/5 was outrighted to Class AAA but elected free agency...on 1/8/07 was signed to a minor league contract by the Reds.
2005
Pitched in 29g for the Brewers...went 4-12, 4.56 in his 24 starts and 0-1, 4.91 in 5 relief apps...in a 6-1 victory at SF on 4/22 threw a 5-hitter for his first career complete game...on 5/30 at SD threw 6.0 scoreless innings but received no decision...in May went 1-3 despite a 2.31era...with a victory on 7/23 at Cin snapped a career-high 6-game losing streak...made his last 4 apps of the season in relief.
2004
Established career highs in every pitching category...went 8-3, 4.08 in 17 apps before the All-Star break and 3-9, 5.97 in 14 apps after the break...began the season with the Brewers' Class AAA affiliate at Indianapolis...made 3 minor league starts before he was promoted...made his first 3 apps for the Brewers in relief before he joined the starting rotation...in his first start of the season, on 5/4 at Cin, allowed 1 hit in 5.0 shutout innings to earn the victory...from 6/4-6/15 went 3-0, 1.50 and then from 6/26-7/16 won 4 straight decisions...in a 9-0 loss on 9/11 at Cin allowed 8 earned runs in 2.1 innings...as a hitter produced his first career double on 7/21 at StL and his first career RBI on 9/21 vs StL.
2003
Spent most of the season at Class AAA Oklahoma...went 4-3, 2.98 in 10 starts there before he was promoted on 6/5...made 8 apps for the Rangers, including 4 starts, before he returned to Oklahoma on 7/16... spent the rest of the season in the minors...on 8/15 vs Fresno earned his only save of the season.
2002
During spring training was traded from the Tigers to the Rockies (3/25)...while pitching for Col's Class AAA team at Colorado Springs ranked third in the Pacific Coast League in strikeouts (134)...on his own staff ranked second in starts and T3rd in innings pitched...from 4/14-4/24 was on the disabled list with a fractured cheekbone...6 times recorded at least 8 strikeouts in a game, including a season-high 11k on 7/26 vs Iowa (5ip)... was promoted on 7/31...in his National League debut, on 8/2 at Cubs, suffered the loss after allowing a 12thinning homer to Moises Alou...made 18 consecutive relief apps before his first start, on 9/14 vs LA...on 9/22 vs Ari singled off Miguel Batista for his first career hit... was his second career plate appearance.
2001
Was named Tigers Rookie of the Year by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association...went 0-0, 1.34 in 26 relief apps and 2-2, 5.50 in 7 starts...made his Major League debut on 4/9 at Min and allowed 3 unearned runs in 2.1 innings...over his next 8 apps through 5/18 did not allow a run in 25.0 consecutive innings...was not charged with an earned run in his first 27.1 innings, the longest streak by a pitcher to begin his career since LA's Fernando Valenzuela had a 34.0-inning streak in 1980-81...on 4/18 vs WSox didn't allow a run 4.2 innings, his career high in relief...threw 6.0 scoreless innings but received no-decision in his first career start, on 5/12 vs Ana...in that start held the Angels hitless through the fifth inning...on 5/18 at TB recorded 8 strikeouts and his first career victory.
