Scott Michael Strickland...he and his wife Charisse have twins, Jaden and Calie...graduated from Klein Oak High School in Spring, TX...worked as a substitute teacher in 1997 and '98 at his old high school during the offseason... attended the University of New Mexico, where he studied criminology and psychology.
2009
Spent 13th professional season with triple-A Albuquerque in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Went 2-1 with a 2.98 ERA and career-high 32 saves in 50 appearances for the Isotopes. Recorded 57 strikeouts in his 48.1 innings...Ranked fourth in all MiLB in saves, leading the club and Pacific Coast League in that catagory...Suffered only two blown saves, converting 94.1% of his opportunities (32 of 34). Took the loss in his first blown save on June 8 vs. Oklahoma City, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits with one walk and one strikeouts in 1.0 inning. Blew the save but earned the win on July 18 vs. New Orleans...Converted 14-straight save opportunities to finish the season...Allowed five runs in his first four games to start the year (4.0 IP) before going through a stretch where he allowed only six earned runs over his next 26 appearances (25.2 IP; 2.10 ERA)...Earned second win of the year in his final game on September 3 vs. Round Rock. Allowed just one hit with a strikeout in his only inning of work...Tossed a season-high 2.1 innings on April 14 v.s Iowa, while making a season-high 46 pitches...Posted a 2-1 record with 17 saves and 3.67 ERA (27.0 IP/11 ER) in 28 home games. Had no record and 15 saves with a 2.11 ERA (21.1 IP/5 ER) in 22 road appearances...Held right-handed hitters to a .202 average (21x104) while lefties hit .244 (19x78) against him. Opponents only hit .171 (7x41) with runners in scoring position.
2008
In 2008, went 4-0 with a team-leading 12 saves and a 3.53 ERA in 53 appearances for Scranton-Wilkes Barre...posted 72 strikeouts and walked just 27 while allowing just 50 hits in 66.1 innings...tossed 7.0 scoreless innings during the club's run to their first-ever International League championship, picking up a win and a save to go along with 10 strikeouts.
2005
The 2005 season marked his last appearance in the Major Leagues, as he had no record and a 6.75 ERA for Houston...began the season in the Mets system before signing with Houston on June 2...had his contract purchased from Round Rock on September 1 and made his first ML appearance that night...was his first Big League game since May 10, 2003.
2003
Had an injury plagued season in 2003, making only 19 appearances with the Mets...landed on the 15-day Disabled List with a strained right groin on May 11 and was transferred to the 60-day DL on June 17 after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery to repair the medial collateral ligament in his right elbow...surgery was performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles.
2002
Split the 2002 season between Montreal and New York after being traded to the Mets on April 15...went to New York with OF Matt Watson and LHP Philip Seibel in exchange for LHP Bruce Chen, RHP Dicky Gonzalez and a player to be named later (Saul Rivera)...made one appearance for Expos prior to the trade...with Mets, appeared in 68 games while going 6-9 with a 3.59 ERA and two saves, setting career-highs in wins and losses.
2001
Set personal bests in 2001 by appearing in 77 games and tossing 81.1 innings for the Montreal Expos...also set a career-high wth 85 strikeouts...opened the season with 8.1 scoreless innings, resulting in a string of 25.0 shutout frames dating back to August 14, 2000...streak was snapped on April 17 at New York (NL).
2000
Made his first Opening Day roster in 2000, working 49 games for the Expos...earned first Major League win with a scoreless frame on April 18 vs. Chicago (NL)...placed on 15-day Disabled List with tendinitis in his right shoulder on May 3...transferred to the 60- day DL on May 25 and was reinstated from the DL on July 3...earned first career save after working the final 0.1 inning on July 20 vs. New York (NL).
1999
In 1999, had his contract purchased in between games of the August 13 doubleheader at Colorado and made his Major League debut on August 14 at Colorado, surrendering one run in 1.2 innings. Began 1999 at single-A Jupiter and pitched at all three minor league levels before having his contract purchased by Montreal between games of the August 13 doubleheader at Colorado...combined to go 5-2 with a 2.51 ERA (82.1 IP/23 ER) between his three stops in the minors.
1998
Began 1998 with single-A Cape Fear and was promoted to Jupiter on June 3...combined to go 4-6 with six saves and a 3.76 ERA (105.1 IP/44 ER) in 37 games (13 starts)...struck out 104 while walking only 22.
1997
Made his professional debut in 1997 with single-A Vermont, going 5-2 with a 3.82 ERA in 15 games (nine starts)...promoted to Cape Fear on August 24 and went 0-1 with a save and 6.35 ERA in three games (one start).
