Hiram Colon Bocachica...married to Jocelyn, and has a daughter, Aliyah...graduated from Rexville HS in Bayamon, PR, where he played volleyball, basketball and track and field...was offered a scholarship to play baseball at LSU but declined the offer and signed with the Expos.
2007

He was with the A's for the second consecutive season and went 3-for-13 (.231) in eight games. Made two starts in center field on Sept. 27 and 28 against the Angels. Started the season on the disabled list at Triple-A Sacramento with a broken right wrist. Bocachica hit .326 in 77 games with 19 homers and 60 RBIs at Sacramento. He led the Rivercats in batting and slugging percentage (.595), and was second in home runs and stolen bases (18) despite missing nearly the first two months of the season. Bocachica had an eight-game stretch from July 4-13 where he had six home runs and 19 RBIs while batting .419 (13-for-31).
2005
Was a non-roster invitee with the A's during the spring but broke his wrist before Opening Day and missed nearly the entire season...came back at the Minor League level in late August and received a mid-September call-up to Oakland...was selected by the A's on September 12 and went 2-for-19 (.105) in nine games...made three starts in right field and two at third base and also appeared in one game in center field...went 0-for-12 against right-handed pitching and was 2-for-7 (.286) against left-handers...now has a .176 (48-for-272) career average against righties and .282 (48-for-170) against lefties...the A's are his fourth team in six Major League seasons...was batting .444 (16-for-36) in 20 games during spring training when he was hit by a Matt Wise pitch in the seventh inning of a game against Milwaukee on March 30...suffered a broken right wrist and did not return to action until August 26 when he began a rehab assignment with the A's affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League...went 1-for-12 in four games before he was moved up to Triple-A Sacramento on September 1...went 7-for-17 (.412) with two home runs and six RBIs in four regular season games with the River Cats, appearing in three games at third base and one at designated hitter...went 4-for-4 with a double, two home runs and four RBIs in his first game on September 1 against Fresno...then hit .476 (10-for-21) with a home run and four RBIs in five postseason games with Sacramento and combined to hit .447 (17-for-38) with five doubles, three home runs, 10 RBIs and nine runs scored in nine games total at Triple-A.

Had two stints with the Mariners and batted .244 with three home runs and six RBI in 50 games...had career highs in walks (12) and stolen bases (5)...batted .400 (12 for 30) against left handed pitchers and .167 (10 for 60) against right-handers...hit .306 (15 for 49) with all three of his home runs at Safeco Field and .171 (7 for 41) on the road...hit .207 (12 for 58) the first time he saw a pitcher in a game and .313 (10 for 32) after that...started 23 games in center field and two in right field and also made one appearance in left field...did not commit an error in 68 chances...was selected by Seattle on June 2 and made his Mariner debut that night against Toronto as a pinch runner...hit his first home run of the season on June 12 against Montreal, his first home run since September 17, 2002...was designated for assignment on July 21...was sent outright to Tacoma on July 27 but returned to Seattle on August 10 and finished the season with the Mariners...went 7 for 28 (.250) in 19 games during his second stint with the Mariners...connected on back-to-back-to-back home runs with Miguel Olivo and Jose Lopez on August 27 against Kansas City...hit .287 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI in 40 games at Triple-A Tacoma...appeared in 27 games in right field, eight in center field, three in left field and two at first base...hit .378 (17 for 45) against left handed pitching and .242 (22 for 91) against right-handers...batted .157 (8 for 51) with runners in scoring position...homered twice on August 1 against Albuquerque...had two grand slams, both coming at Las Vegas on April 13 and May 31.

Started the season on Detroit's roster but went just 1 for 22 (.045) in six games before he was designated for assignment on April 18...was sent outright to Toledo on April 24 and spent the remainder of the season with the Mud Hens...batted .242 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI in 95 games...played all three outfield positions (32 games in center field, 21 in left field and 18 in right field) in addition to second base (20 games) and third base (two games)...hit 11 of his 12 home runs off right handed pitching...was on the suspended list from May 29 to June 2...was placed on the disabled list on August 16 with a right hip flexor injury and missed the remainder of the season.
2002
Split his season between Los Angeles and Detroit and combined for a .220 batting average, eight home runs and 17 RBI...started just 11 (10 in left field and one in center field) of the 102 games while with the Dodgers...used mainly as a pinch-hitter with Los Angeles, going 5 for 21 (.238) with two home runs in the pinch...was hitting .215 with four home runs and nine RBI in 49 games when he was traded to Detroit on July 25 for pitcher Tom Farmer and a player to be named later...homered in his first game with the Tigers and went on to bat .223 with four home runs and eight RBI in 34 games...matched his career high with three hits on September 17 against Minnesota...played for Ponce in the Puerto Rican Winter League following the season and hit .264 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 30 games.

Spent the entire season with Los Angeles, appearing in 19 games at second base, 10 in left field, eight at third base and three in right field...made 36 pinch-hit appearances and was 4 for 33 (.121) with three doubles and three walks...hit his first Major League home run on June 12 against Texas off Mark Petkovsek...became just the ninth player to reach the Loge Level in Dodger Stadium with a blast off Randy Johnson on June 19...had a career high six-game hitting streak from June 19 to 26...appeared in just 24 of the Dodgers final 84 games...was on the disabled list from July 9 to 26 with a sprained right ankle and played in only four of Los Angeles' final 29 games from August 30 to October 7...played for Ponce in the Puerto Rican Winter League following the season and hit .200 in 22 games.

Recalled from Albuquerque by the Dodgers on September 11...made his Major League debut on September 13 at Arizona as a pinch runner...collected his first Major League hit on September 16 against Colorado, singling off Jerry DiPoto as a pinch-hitter...was a Pacific Coast League All-Star and was named to Baseball America'sTriple-A All-Star squad...ranked fourth among all minor league second baseman with a .322 average and topped all with 99 double plays...finished third in the PCL in extra base hits (65), tied for third in doubles (38), fourth in total bases (270) and fifth in runs (99) and hits (155)...was the Dodgers minor league player of the month in May, when he hit .382, and August, when he hit .364 with nine home runs and 25 RBI...was on the Albuquerque disabled list from May 23 to June 2 with a strained right hamstring.
