Full name is Mark Allen Redman...he and his wife, Brandi, have a son, Jordan (10/25/00)...Is a 1992 graduate of Escondido (Calif.) High School, where he played baseball and football...attended The Master's College in Santa Clarita (Calif.) for one year before transferring to the University of Oklahoma...Was 14-3 with a 2.71 ERA during his sophomore season at Oklahoma in 1994...set school records for strikeouts (136) and innings pitched (135.1) during the regular season...posted a 5-0 record in postseason play as he helped the Sooners win the 1994 College World Series title...Was named 1st Team All-Big Eight, Big Eight Newcomer of the Year, NCAA All-Regional team and was a member of the College World Series All-Tournament team in 1994...Tossed a no-hitter for Anchorage in the Alaska Baseball League in 1994...finished 13-2 with a 2.12 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 110.1 innings pitched as a junior in 1995...led the conference in wins and strikeouts...Selected as a 1st Team All-American in both of his seasons at Oklahoma...attends and donates to the Fellowship Bible Church in Tulsa, Okla...also donates time and effort in support of the Garth Brooks Touch 'em All Foundation.

2006
Redman was the Royals' only All-Star and was the staff workhorse, finishing with 167 innings. He became the Royals' first 11-game winner since 2002, and fired a shutout against the hard-hitting Twins. The Royals were his sixth team in six years.

Spent entire season with Pittsburgh, going 5-15 with a 4.90 ERA (178.1 IP, 97 ER) in 30 starts...ranked 2nd on staff in starts and innings behind Kip Wells...Pitched 2 of the club's 4 complete games...tied for 3rd among N.L. pitchers in losses...received the 2nd-lowest amount of run support (3.23 per game) among all Major League pitchers...teammate Kip Wells received the fewest (3.07)...Went 4-4 with a 2.80 ERA through his 1st 14 starts on June 14, but was 1-11 with a 7.20 ERA (85.0 IP, 68 ER) in his fi nal 16 starts...allowed 2 or fewer walks in 21 of his 30 starts...Tossed 6.0 scoreless innings in his Pittsburgh debut on April 7 at San Diego, but came away with a no decision (the Pirates lost 1-0 in 12 innings)...Won a 4-2 decision over Milwaukee's Gary Glover at Miller Park on April 12 for his 1st victory...was struck on the inside of his right kneecap in the contest by a Carlos Lee line drive with 2 outs in the 6th inning but finished the frame...Singled off Greg Maddux to snap an 0-for-31 streak at the plate, but lost 1st decision on April 17 vs. Chicago (N.L.)...Tossed a complete game, but lost a 2-1 decision to San Francisco's Brett Tomko on May 9 at SBC Park (8.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER)...Pitched his 1st career shutout and 2nd straight complete game while tossing a 4-hitter vs. Milwaukee, May 14 (9.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO)...was the 1st Pirates pitcher since Jason Schmidt in '97 to throw back-to-back complete games...Lost a career-high 6 straight decisions from June 29 to July 19...snapped the losing streak with a 3-0 victory over Colorado on July 24 at PNC Park (8.0 IP, 6 H, 0 ER)...also produced an RBI single off Shawn Chacon...Surrendered just 2 hits and one run in 5.0 IP on Sept. 12 at St. Louis, but left the game with a fractured left index fi nger (suffered while bunting)...missed the remainder of the season after his Sept. 12 start...Served up 10 home runs after the All-Star break after allowing 8 in 117.1 innings prior to the break...Tied for 3rd in the league in balks...went 0-7 with a 6.27 ERA (79.0 IP, 55 ER) in his final 14 road starts after winning lone start away from home on April 12 at Milwaukee...The Pirates went 8-22 in his 30 starts, but lost in each of his last 9...Went 6-for-53 (.113) with 3 walks, 2 RBI and 4 sacrifice bunts at the plate (was 2-for-75 in his career as a batter prior to the season).

Acquired from the Florida Marlins in exchange for right-handed pitcher Mike Neu and Bill Murphy...finished the 2003 season with a 14-9 record and 3.59 ERA in 29 starts...posted career highs in wins and strikeouts (151), besting his previous marks of 12 wins and 117 strikeouts with Minnesota in 2000...allowed a .239 batting average, which ranked 13th in the National League. He recorded three complete games, which ranked tied for seventh in the NL...Redman posted a 0-1 record and 6.50 ERA (13 er in 18.0 ip) in four postseason starts in 2003.
2002
