2007
Began the season in the Arizona organization but was acquired by the A's
in a minor league trade at the end of May and ended up appearing in eight
games with Oakland...was 0 for 3 with two strikeouts and did not make a
start...was traded to the A's organization for cash considerations on May
30 and was brought up to Oakland for the first time on June 29...went 0 for
1 in one game in right field on July 4 against Toronto, his first appearance
in the Majors since October 3, 2004 while playing for Kansas City...was
designated for assignment on July 8 and sent outright to Triple-A Sacramento
on July 11...returned to Oakland on August 18 and spent the remainder
of the season with the A's...appeared in just seven of the A's 39
games during his second stint and was 0 for 2 in seven games (four in left
field, three in right field)...was batting .282 with two home runs and 24
RBI in 41 games with Triple-A Tucson when he was traded to the A's
organization...went on to hit .298 with 14 home runs and 54 RBI in 62
games with Sacramento...combined to bat .293 with 16 home runs and 76
RBI in 103 games in the Pacific Coast League...his batting average included
a .316 (36 for 114) mark against left-handed pitching and .282 (74 for 262) against right-handers...hit .279 with runners in scoring
position...batted in six different spots in the order, but saw his most action
hitting fourth where he had a .331 batting average with nine home runs and
30 RBI in 33 games, all with Sacramento...appeared in 53 games at designated
hitter, 36 in left field and four in right field...was also 3 for 7 (.429)
with three walks as a pinch hitter...went 9 for 30 (.300) over his first 10
games with Tucson before a 6 for 41 (.146) streak dropped his average to
.211 on May 6...then went 22 for 60 (.367) over his final 17 games in the
Diamondbacks organization before he was traded on May 30...hit .415
(17 for 41) with three home runs and 11 RBI over his first nine games with
Sacramento from May 30 to June 8...that included a grand slam and a
season high five RBI on June 2 against Round Rock and his first of two
four-hit games on June 8 at Tucson...then went 2 for 27 (.074) over his
next seven games...both of the hits were home runs and both came on June
12 at Fresno...was batting .284 with seven home runs and 26 RBI in 28
games with the River Cats when the A's called for the first time on June
29...returned to Sacramento on July 12 and hit .310 with seven home runs
and 28 RBI over his final 34 games...went 13 for 32 (.406) over an eightgame
stretch from July 21-28...then went 1 for 16 over his next four games,
including a four-strikeout game on July 31 at Nashville...was a perfect 4
for 4 on August 3 against New Orleans, matching his season high in
hits...had a season best nine-game hitting streak from August 7 to 16...went
13 for 35 (.371) with three home runs and 14 RBI during the streak...then
went 0 for 5 on August 17 at Portland and was called up by Oakland the
next day...ended up batting .362 with five home runs and 18 RBI in 16
games in August.
2003
Made the Opening Day roster for the 2nd time in his career (also KC 2001).
Spent the entire season at the big league level (except for a rehab assignment), marking his 6th
season with Major League experience.
Hit .227 (30-132) in 50 games for KC, scoring 16 runs and driving in 14...made 31 starts for KC, (15
in RF, 8 in LF and 8 as the DH).
Hit his 1st career grand slam in KC's 9-6 victory at Detroit on April 9...the 4 RBI in that game were
a career-high.
Had a 6-game hitting streak from April 3-17...hit .316 (6-19) during that streak with 1 HR and 5 RBI.
Had an 8-game hitting streak from April 29-May 10 (1 shy of his career-high)...hit .435 (10-23) during
that streak with a home run, 3 RBI and 5 runs scored...the streak was ended with an 0-for-4 day against
Baltimore on May 11.
His 3-for-4 performance in the 2nd game of the doubleheader with Baltimore on May 9 was his 1st
multi-hit game of the year.
Was put on the 15-day disabled list on May 28 due to a right wrist sprain.
Was activated off of the disabled list on July 19 after completing a rehab assignment in Surprise,
Ariz., and with the Omaha Royals (AAA).
Had a career-high 4 hits on Aug. 4 at Chicago, going 4-for-5 with 2 RBI...his 2 RBI and 2 runs scored
helped the Royals to a 13-9 victory.
Stole his 2nd career base in the 3rd inning on Aug. 13 against the Yankees in the Royals 11-0 win...it
was his 1st stolen base of the season.
2002
Played the majority of the season with Omaha (AAA) where he hit .275 in 121 games with 23 doubles, 17 home runs and 75 RBI.
Overcame a slow start with the Omaha Royals where he hit just .211 (35-166) with 4 doubles and 2 homers in the 1st 2 months of the season...hit .312 in the last 3 months (91-292) with 15 doubles and 15 home runs.
Had a season-best 12-game hitting streak for Omaha from Aug. 1-13...he hit .404 (19-47) during the streak with 3 home runs and 15 RBI.
Was recalled from Omaha on Sept. 2 and played in 16 games for Kansas City, hitting .235 with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homer and 7 RBI...struck out 20 times in 51 at bats.
Hit his 1st career triple vs. Detroit on Sept. 25...homered off Detroit's Adam Bernero at Comerica Park on Sept. 15...it was his 1st big league home run since Oct. 7, 2001 at Detroit.
