Is a 1992 graduate of James Bowie High school in Austin, Texas, where he lettered in both baseball and basketball...attended Galveston Junior College, earning All-Conference honors in 1993-94...won the Junior College World Series as a sophomore and was an all-tournament selection...also attended the University of Texas...was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 18th round of the 1995 June draft.
2006
Spent the season at Triple A Charlotte after starting the year as a non-roster invitee to the Chicago White Sox Spring Training... went 9-9 with a 3.67 ERA (63ER/154.1IP) in 28 games (27 starts) at Charlotte...ranked third in the International League with 144 strikeouts...also ranked third in the White Sox organization in strikeouts, while finishing seventh in the organization in ERA...led the IL with 114 walks...began the season with a five-game winning streak, posting a 5-0 record with a 2.83 ERA in his first 12 games (11 starts)...struck out a season-high nine batters in 5.1 innings on Aug. 8 vs. Durham...limited IL opposing hitters to a .237 average.

Combined to go 3-3 with a 6.03 ERA (46 ER/68.2 IP) and 84 strikeouts in 36 games (six starts) between Triple A Fresno (San Francisco) and New Orleans (Washington)...was 2-2 with a 10.36 ERA (28ER/24.1 IP) as a starter and 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA (18 ER/44.1 IP) in relief...averaged 11.0 strikeouts per 9.0 IP...went to Spring Training with the Cubs, but was released on April 1...signed by San Francisco as a free agent on April 2...went 1-1 with a 3.40 ERA (15ER/39.2 IP) in 22 games (two starts) with the Grizzlies...limited opponents to a .169 (23x136) average with Fresno...struck out five batters in 2.0 innings of relief on 4/13 vs. Portland ... posted a 1.86 ERA in April and a 1.54 ERA in May...did not allow a run in nine consecutive relief appearances from 4/29-5/27 (12.1 IP)...released on 6/3 and signed with Washington as a free agent on 6/9...went 2-2 with a 9.62 ERA (31ER/29.0 IP) in 14 games (four starts) with the Zephyrs ... made three scoreless relief appearances before surrendering at least one run in 10 of his final 11 games...started each of his final four contests with New Orleans, going 2-1 with a 10.59 ERA...traded back to San Francisco on 8/6 ... posted a 5.40 ERA (11 ER/18.1 IP) in seven games upon his return to the Grizzlies.

Appeared on an Opening Day roster for the first time in his career and spent the majority of the season with the Diamondbacks... went 8-1 with a 4.05 ERA (27 ER/60.0 IP) and two holds in 50 games ... tied for fourth among NL relievers in wins...worked more than 1.0 inning on 18 occasions, including three outings of at least 3.0 innings ... had a 7.24 ERA when pitching on no rest (12 games) and a 1.20 ERA with one day of rest (12 games)...made his Major League debut on 3/31 vs. Los Angeles (3 ER/0.1 IP)...was on the 15-day disabled list from 5/4-29 with a strained left oblique...earned his first career win on 6/7 vs. Cleveland with 2.0 scoreless frames... compiled a career-high seven-game winning streak from 6/7-8/13...also made seven rehab appearances with Tiple A Tucson from 5/17- 30 and went 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA (4ER/9.1IP).

Spent the entire season with Tucson and went 15-7 with a 3.47 ERA in 28 games (27 starts)...established then-career highs in wins, innings (163.1), starts and strikeouts (129) ... 15 wins led the PCL and ranked second among all Triple A pitchers...ranked sixth in the PCL in ERA...was named to
Baseball America's
postseason PCL All-Star team...pitched for Hermosillo in the Mexican Winter League following the season.
2001
Combined to go 7-6 with a 3.80 ERA in 36 games (14 starts) between Double A El Paso and Tucson...began the season at El Paso and went 5-6 with a 5.16 ERA in 18 games (14 starts)...tossed the first 9.0-inning no-hitter in Diamondbacks' franchise history on 8/14 at Arkansas...named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for his effort...was 2-0 with a 6.33 ERA in 18 relief appearances at Tucson...pitched for Aragua of the Venezuelan Winter League following the season.

Appeared in just five games (three starts) for Tucson before suffering tendinitis in his left biceps...placed on the disabled list on 5/4 and missed the remainder of the season.
