Spent most of 1997 at double-A Jackson before a late-season call-up to AAA New Orleans...hit safely in 23 of 27 games in June, batting .333 (34x102) with five homers and 11 RBI...was 2x4 in his first triple-A game Aug. 26...played in just three games with the Zephyrs.

Named to the Midwest League All-Star game in 1996 despite having his season end after only 29 games with a dislocated left shoulderb& had season-ending surgery in May on the shoulder.
