George Paul Lombard...1994 graduate of Atlanta's The Lovett School, where he played baseball and football...spurned football scholarship from the University of Georgia to sign with Atlanta while on a cruise to Hawaii for his senior class trip.

Played in 20 late-season contests with the Nationals in first big league action since playing for TBR in 2003...earned the September promotion by hitting .302 with 10 homers and 24 RBI in only 62 games with New Orleans of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League...went 3-for-21 with one homer and one RBI with Washington...served primarily as defensive specialist and/or pinch-runner...hit Nationals' 8th and final pinch-hit homer of the season on September 8 at COL off Ramon Ramirez...the pinch long ball snapped a 4-4 tie in the 7th inning, but COL prevailed, 11-8....went hitless in final 11 at-bats with Washington...hit .259 in 15 Dominican Winter League contests with Azucareros del Este.
In minor leagues: Posted at least one RBI in 5 of first 6 games with the Zephyrs...was placed on the DL at the end of April with a left hip strain...made 6-game rehab assignment with the GCL Nationals, June 26-July 3...returned to PCL, July 4...hit .302 with 9 homers in 50 games upon return...went deep in 3 straight games, Aug. 21-23.

Hit 20 homers for Pawtucket of the Triple-A International League...tied for 3rd among BOS minor leaguers with 20 home runs and 23 stolen bags...went 23-for-75 (.307) with 5 homers and 16 RBI during 17-game hitting streak, May 12-30.
