Travis Reynolds Lee...makes his off-season home in Henderson, NV with wife, Andrea Clark, and son, Dane...a 1993 graduate of Capital (WA) High in Olympia...attended San Diego State University...there earned the 1996 Golden Spikes Award as the nation's top collegiate baseball player...was the 1B for Team USA in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta...hit .382 during the tournament, and .427 during pre-Olympic tour...set a USA Baseball single-season record for most home runs with 17...committed only 2 errors in 350 total chances...Travis's brother Taber was a third-round selection of Pittsburgh in 2002, and split the 2006 season with Triple-A Indianapolis and Double-A Altoona.

Re-signed with the Rays after being limited to just 7 games with the Yankees in 2004 (left shoulder surgery)...Was the Rays' first baseman against right-handed pitching and a primary pinch-hitter...Season was a tale of two halves...started slow batting just .240 at the break with 2 HR and 19 RBI...hit to a .306 clip in the second half with 10 HR and 30 RBI...Nine of those 10 second-half homers came in a 25-game stretch from July 31 to Sep 3...Hit all 12 of his home runs off righties...Did not hit his first HR until June 13 vs. Milwaukee (Ricky Bottalico), the first pinch-hit HR of his career...came in his 135th AB of the season...was his first HR since Sep 27, 2003 for the Rays at Tropicana Field off Boston's Jeff Suppan...Led all AL pinch-hitters with a club-record successful 10 hits...was also tops with 7 RBI...he and TEX David Dellucci were the only AL players with two pinch-hit home runs...His 2nd pinch-hit HR, a 9th-inning blast Aug. 14 at CLE (Bob Wickman), provided the game's lone run...It was only the 3rd time in major league history a 1-0 game was decided by a pinch-hit home run...His .476 pinch hit average was the highest by a major leaguer (min. 20 AB's) since Philadelphia's Alex Arias (.545) in 1999 and the best by an American Leaguer since KC's Kevin Seitzer (.550) in 1991...Belted his 100th career home run Aug. 26 vs. LAA (Kevin Gregg)...Had 24 RBI in his last 33 games from Aug. 22 (season-high 4 RBI Aug. 24 vs. CLE)...had just 25 on the SEASON before that...Hit a team-best .368 in August (28-76)...Committed just 4 errors on the season and tied the White Sox' Paul Konerko (.996) for the 3rd-best percentage among AL first basemen behind TEX Mark Teixeira (.998) and LAA Darin Erstad (.997)...Made his first error on June 19 vs. St. Louis after going 170 games without...was actually just 8 games shy of the AL record for consecutive errorless games by first basemen - Mike Hegan went 178 consecutive games with Milwaukee and Oakland from 1970-73...Rays were one strike from their 6th straight loss when he hit an 0-2 pitch from Toronto's Miguel Batista over the right field fence to give the Rays the 3-2 win on Sep 3 at Rogers Centre...was the first time a Ray hit a 2-out, 2-strike pitch for a game-winning HR in the final inning...Gave the Rays the 6-5 "walk-off" win Sep 11 over Toronto with a fielder's choice...was his 4th "walk-off" RBI as a Devil Ray tying Fred McGriff and John Flaherty for the most in club history...His triple May 27 vs. Seattle banged off the "B" ring catwalk (which is in play), just the 14th fair ball in 8 seasons to hit off the second ring from the top...Was the club's top hitter at Tropicana Field in 2005 at .312 (62-199)...Spent a stint on the DL May 2-19, with a strained right groin, missing 16 games...was batting .299 at time of the injury...Signed with the Devil Rays on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 6), exactly two years to the day he signed his first contract with the club.
2004
After the Rays and Lee mutually agreed that the option in his contract for 2004 would not be exercised on Oct 30, 2003, Lee signed with the Yankees on March 2, 2004...Suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder and made two trips to the disabled list...Appeared in only 7 games (4 starts) all season...Was first placed on the DL on March 29 and returned to active duty on April 17.Two weeks later (May 1) he returned to the DL and underwent season-ending surgery on May 11...The surgery was performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum.
2003
Started 141 games at first base for the Rays in 2003- 3rd most in the AL- and had the 2nd highest fielding percentage among major league first basemen just behind Chicago's Paul Konerko (.9979 to .9977). Led the Rays in walks (64) and was 2nd in on-base pct. (.348), doubles (37), home runs (19) and extra base hits (59)...His 37 doubles were a career-high... Drove in 26 game-tying or go-ahead runs, tied with Rocco Baldelli for 2nd most on the club...Had 59 extra base hits, only 3 American League first basemen had more...The Rays' 10 "walk-off" wins were 2nd most in the AL and Lee was responsible for driving home the winning run in three of them...Only Fred McGriff - with 3 in 2000 - has produced that many walk-off RBI in one season for the Rays...Batted a club-high .344 (31-90) in July, the Rays' first ever winning mark that month...Had a career-high 12-game hit streak Sep 2-13 when he batted .314 (11/35)...Was on the DL from April 14-28 (strained right oblique)... Injury occurred April 13 at New York...Missed 13 games.

His .996 fielding % (1343 TC, 6 E) in 2002 with Philadelphia was 3rd-best among NL 1st basemen...Did not make his first error until June 18 vs. CWS, 67th game of the season.

Hit .297 (30-101), 7 2B, 3 HR, 15 RBI in July ... Had season-high 4 RBI, Aug 11 vs. LA and Aug 14 at MIL ... Hit 1st grand slam of season (3rd career) in 1st inning, Aug. 11 vs. LA (Eric Gagne) ...
