Gregory Owen Zaun...graduated from St. Francis (CA) High School...his mother, Cherie, is a former professional golfer who once served as the women's golf coach at the University of Southern California...nephew of both Rick Dempsey (former Major League catcher) and Pat Dempsey (former minor league catcher)...is an avid fan of the band Rush...he and his wife, Jamie, reside in Palm Harbor, FL.

2010

Played in 28 games for MIL, all starts behind the plate, but missed the majority of the campaign after undergoing season-ending right shoulder surgery to repair a labrum tear...Batted .265 (27-for-102) with seven doubles and two homers with 14 RBI with the Brewers...Batted .333 (27-for-81) after beginning the season 0-for-21....his 0-for- 21 streak tied Brad Nelson (2009) for the franchise record for the most at-bats by a position player without a hit to begin a season...Threw out four of 23 runners attempting to steal (17.4%)...On 4/26 vs. PIT, went 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, five RBI and a walk...tied his career highs for runs (eighth time), hits (fourth time) and RBI (fourth time) in that game...Was placed on the 15-day disabled list on 5/21 with a right shoulder strain...underwent season-ending surgery on 6/15 in Cincinnati (Dr. Tim Kremchek)...was transferred to the 60-day DL on 8/12.

Started the season with Houston and batted .217 with one home run and 13 RBI in 59 games... Designated for assignment on August 20, was signed six days later by Colorado... Played in 15 games as a Rockie with 12 starts, all behind the plate.

2002

Launched a pinch-hit, solo home run on Aug. 20 vs. Chicago (Kyle Farnsworth)... Cracked a walk-off, pinch-hit grand slam on June 27 vs. Arizona on an 0-2 pitch (Kim)... It was his first career grand slam and second homer of the season.

2001

Missed the first 98 games of the season with a torn left calf suffered in spring training on March 28... Was recalled from his rehab assignment in Omaha and reinstated from the 60-day disabled list on July 23... Put together a career- best, nine-game hitting streak from Aug. 14-Sept. 4... Recorded the first multi-home run game of his career at Chicago on Sept. 28... Solo shot in the seventh off Alan Embree gave the Royals a 3-2 win.

2000

Belted his first home run with the Royals at New York on April 14 off Roger Clemens... Later left that contest with a sprained right elbow injured when he hit batter Clay Bellinger while throwing out Shane Spencer attempting to steal... Placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 18, retroactive to April 15, due to a sprained right elbow... Began a rehab assignment at Omaha (AAA) on May 16... Recalled from his rehab assignment and reinstated from the DL on May 29... Had arthroscopic on his right shoulder in November... Procedure performed by Dr. Steve Joyce.

1999

Started 21 games as the backup to Ivan Rodriguez for the Texas Rangers... Threw out 10 of 22 base stealers (.454)... Compiled a .984 fielding percentage in 37 games behind the plate... Homered in the annual Hall of Fame Game on July 26 vs. the Royals in Cooperstown after calling his shot to the right field stands.

1998

Gunned down 26-of-78 baserunners (33%)... Became the first player to homer into the pool area at Bank One Ballpark on April 19.

1997

Made 38 starts at catcher for the World Champion Marlins...Appeared in four postseason games, going 0-for-2.

1996

Began the campaign with Baltimore, making 28 starts behind the plate before being optioned to AAA-Rochester on Aug. 6....Acquired by Florida on Aug. 23 as the player to be named in the deal that sent Terry Mathews to Baltimore on Aug. 21.

1995

Joined the Orioles on June 19... Made his Major League debut as a pinch-runner on June 24 against Boston...Singled off Boston's Mike Maddux on June 25 for his first big league hit... Belted his first career homer off Toronto's Woody Williams on July 2.

1994

Topped all International League catchers by throwing out 40 percent of baserunners (40-of-99) and compiling a .989 field percentage with Rochester.

1993

Started the season at AA-Bowie where he was named an Eastern League All-Star.

Spent the year at Frederick (A).

Paced the team in runs (67) and walks (50)... Selected for the Midwest League All-Star game.
