Began season at Iowa (AAA), but after going 3-1, 3.06 ERA in 8 starts was promoted to the Cubs...Made ML debut 5/16 vs HOU, a 13-1 win...He no-hit the Astros for 5.2 innings until Jeff Bagwell singled - the only hit he allowed in 7.0 innings...Won his next start 5/21 at ATL, 4-2 - a 2-run HR by Marquis Grissom broke 12.1 scoreless inning streak...Recorded first 2 hits of career 7/2 at PIT in 15-7 win - 1st hit was RBI single (Paul Wagner)...On DL 8/20-9/4 with strained right shoulder...Moved to bullpen upon return.
