Underwent ulnar nerve surgery on left elbow in October, 1987 and continued to have some pain in Spring Training of 1988...Spent the 1st six weeks of season on extended spring training program before joining Port Charlotte on May 15...Did not allow more than 2 er in 6 starts to earn a promotion to Tulsa on June 22...Fanned 76 in 83.1 innings for best strikeout ratio on the club...Pitched at La Guaira in the Venezuelan winter league...Missed the 1st month of the 1987 season with elbow problems...Started at Port Charlotte and was assigned to Tulsa on May 22...Joined Drillers rotation in July, defeating Shreveport on Aug. 19 for only win...Went to the Florida Instructional League but had further elbow trouble, resulting in surgery...Started the 1986 season on the disabled list with tendinitis...Went to Tulsa, but was 0-3 in 10 games before moving to Salem on June 4...Suffered a laceration on left hand in early August and was out the rest of the year...Began the 1985 campaign at Daytona Beach and was assigned to Burlington on May 12...Fanned 96 batters in 95.0 innings...Got 4 starts with Burlington, pitching 2 complete games...Pitched mostly in relief at Burlington in 1984 although did make 4 starts...Was 4-7 with a 3.98 era and 3 saves in 39 games...Spent 2nd consecutive season at Sarasota in 1983, posting a 4-1 record with a save and a 2.36 era in 15 games/6 starts...Appeared in just 2 games in 1982, his 1st professional season, while pitching for Sarasota...Did not allow a base runner in 3.0 innings.
