Appeared in just 11 games due to injuries...opened season on DL with sore right shoulder and bruised left knee...played in 9 games at Frisco (AA) on rehab assignment before being activated on May 10...hit .324 (11-34) with one home run and 6 RBI with the RoughRiders...hit .400 (4-10) vs. left-handers...made 3 starts at first base and 2 at third...2-4 on May 17 at New York before going 0-9 in last 4 games...sidelined for the season on May 29...had surgery to repair frayed right rotator cuff on June 18 and arthroscopic surgery on both knees on August 11... transferred to 60-day DL on June 26.

Started 63 games at third base, 8 as the DH, and 4 at first base for the Chicago White Sox...batted just .222 (28-126) in final 44 games, .167 (11-66) in 24 contests beginning August 1...batted .350 (7-20) with 4 of 7 homers vs. Texas, all at Comiskey Park...homered in consecutive games, May 11 and 13 and produced third career 2-homer game on August 16...on DL, June 7-22, with a sore left achilles tendon...White Sox' Opening Day third baseman but made 5 errors in first 8 games when bothered by right arm trouble...started 69 of Chicago's first 131 games but was in the lineup for just 7 of final 31 contests beginning August 30.

Saw his first major league action since 1996 when he appeared in 7 games for the Cleveland Indians...surpassed his career major league totals in games (66), AB (209), runs (29), hits (53-tie), HR (6), RBI (32) and strikeouts (42) despite not joining the Rays until May 6 and missing nearly six weeks with a left oblique strain...started 52 games: 3B-37, DH-5, LF-2, 1B-8...started in LF June 1 at Oakland, the first outfield appearance of his career...selected by the Rays May 6 from AAA Durham when Wade Boggs was DL'd...started 10 of the Rays' first 11 games (all at 3B) after his promotion, hitting safely in 9 of the 10 (including 6 straight 5/11-18)...also tallied 5 doubles and 3 multi-RBI gms over that span...in addition, posted 7 RBI games in his first 10 (3 multi-RBI), including a season-high 4 May 8 @ Cleveland...had 2 hits on May 6 vs. KC in his debut followed by back-to-back 3-hit games in the first 2 games of the Cleveland series (5/7-8)...in his first game, he singled to start the game-winning rally in the 8th inning of the 5-4 triumph...hadn't had a major league hit since June 8, 1996 with the Indians against the Angels' Chuck Finley...homered May 29 off Seattle's Jeff Fassero for his first HR since July 3, 1995 while with the Indians...left the game June 21 at New York with the left obligue strain...was shelved the next day. Was hitting .375 through June 4 (21/56), then hit at a .209 clip (32/153) the rest of the way...hit cleanup 6x in the final month, the first time in his career he's hit there...tied his career high Sept. 4 vs. Minnesota with 4 hits (July 19, 1995 @ TEX while with CLE)...hit 61 points higher on the road (.286-.226) but 5 of his 6 home runs came at Tropicana Field...was 2-for-5 as a pinch-hitter, tying Danny Clyburn, for most pinch-hits on the club...hit safely in 19 of his 27 games with Durham...belted a grand slam in a 15-4 Bulls win May 1 at Norfolk...had a homer and 3 RBI in his next game, May 3 vs. Syracuse.

1998

Began the season on the disabled list, rehabilitating from multiple left knee surgeries...joined Durham June 1 on rehabilitation assignment...appeared in five games for the Bulls (.294, 5-17, 4 2B) before breaking his left hand on a pitch June 7 vs. Charlotte...was out of action until starting another rehabilitation stint August 17 with the GCL Rays...after eight games with the Rookie Rays he moved to St. Petersburg (A) August 26 where he made two more appearances to end his season.

1997

Underwent knee surgery in the spring and missed the entire season...injured his right knee playing outfield March 24 in Winter Haven vs. the New York Yankees...placed on the 60-day disabled list March 26 and had arthroscopic surgery in Cleveland April 11 to remove torn cartilage in the knee...began rehabbing in Cleveland in early August...after not responding to rehab, underwent a second arthroscopic procedure September 4...left knee was also scoped that day to monitor progress from his two 1996 surgeries.

1996

Appeared in seven games for the Indians, starting three at first base. His only hit of the season was a double off the Angels' Chuck Finley June 8...extended his errorless streak to 61 straight games dating back to May 4, 1994, when he made the only error of his career at third base at Comiskey Park...tore cartilage in his left knee while running in the outfield prior to the second game of a doubleheader vs. Louisville June 25 while playing for Buffalo...underwent arthroscopic surgery June 27 in Cleveland and missed the rest of the season...started the year at Buffalo and was hitting .338 when he was recalled by Cleveland June 7...optioned back to AAA June 22, where he injured his knee three days later.

1995

Hit his first major league home run off Andy Pettitte June 17 vs. New York...homered again off Pettite in his next at-bat...filled in as the Indians' starting first baseman when Paul Sorrento, former Devil Ray teammate, was out with a hamstring injury...did not commit an error in 45 games at first base...was 0 for 14 in seven postseason appearances, starting two games in the A.L.C.S. vs. Seattle and playing in three games (starting Game 4) in the World Series loss to Atlanta...hit .315 for the Indians as a rookie, collecting 162 at bats in 52 games...after beginning the season at Triple-A Buffalo, was recalled June 12 (when Dave Winfield was placed on the DL with a strained left rotator cuff) and spent the rest of the season in the majors.

1994

Made his major league debut in two brief stints with the Indians...his first taste of major league action took him to three cities in four days: with the Indians in Chicago on May 3, then an exhibition game vs. their affiliate in Charlotte the next day, then one day in Baltimore followed by a demotion back to Charlotte...played in his first big league game as a defensive replacement at third base at Chicago May 3...in his final game with the Tribe May 21 at Toronto, he collected his first major league hit and RBI (single, sacrifice fly off Al Leiter)...named to the International League All-Star team after ranking third in the I.L with a .327 batting average...finished fifth in the league with a .505 slugging percentage and .397 on-base percentage...suffered a season-ending broken left wrist August 9 in a collision at first base.

1993

Spent the entire season at AA Canton-Akron...appeared in only 89 games due to injury...underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a small tear in his right rotator cuff...led the Eastern League with 15 hit by pitches.

1992

Played in a career-high 121 games at Kinston...tied for 5th in the Carolina League with 19 HR...led Kinston in hits, homers, and RBI and hit two grand slams.

1991

Began his professional career, appearing only as a designated hitter...batted .212 (11-52) with five RBI in 14 games for Watertown.
