He and his wife, Tami, make their offseason home in Miami, Fla., with their daughter, Faith (Oct. 18, 2002)...graduated from Miami (Fla.) Southridge High School in 1987...attended Miami Dade South Community College in 1988-89 and the University of Miami in 1990...as a freshman at Miami Dade South, batted .351 with 34 RBI in 42 games...as a sophomore, was named All-State, hitting .352 with one home run and 43 RBI in 52 games...in lone season at Miami, hit .365 with 30 RBI in 65 games and tied for team batting lead with former Angels teammate Jorge Fabregas...recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage, posting eight assists and 123 putouts (131 total chances)...honored by Miami-Dade Community College in 2001 as part of Successful Alumni Initiative...signed by Angels scout Tom Kotchman...while with the Angels, was actively involved in Orange County community during the season through the Angels Wives UCI Hospital visits and area youth baseball clinics...also took part in public service announcement and served as spokesman for "Jersey Off Their Back Night" to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
