He, his wife Dagly, son Magglio Jr. (10/14/95) and daughters Maggliana (1/28/01) and Sophia (9/9/04) reside in Fort Lauderdale, FL during the offseason...Established the Ordonez Family Scholarship in 2008, an annual $2,500 scholarship awarded to a Southwest Detroit high school senior to attend college...Was the Tigers recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award in 2008...Donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to support those affected by the earthquake in Haiti in January of 2010...Actively participates with Tigers Dreams Come True, the Detroit Tigers Autographed Memorabilia Donation Program and Autographs for a Cause, sponsored several Hispanic youths during the annual Fiesta Tigres! game, funded a field renovation project in Southwest Detroit named Magglio Ordonez Field (dedicated in July of 2010), attended and sponsored several families from area pediatric hospitals to attend "Keeping Kids in the Game" and he participated in the Tigers Winter Caravan.
