**APPOINTED:** Named to the position of Hitting Coach on November 26, 2012. **PERSONAL:** Charles Edward Mottola... Attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where in his senior year hit .624 with 24 home runs... Was an All-American selection in his senior year at the University of Central Florida. **PROFESSIONAL CAREER:** Selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round (5th overall) in the 1992 draft...Appeared in 59 games over five seasons for Cincinnati, Florida, Baltimore and Toronto batting .200 with four home runs and 12 RBI...Played 16 seasosn in the minor leagues hitting .280 with 249 home runs and 1034 RBI, including a career best 33 home runs and 102 RBI in 2000 with Syracuse earning Blue Jays Minor League Player of the Year honours **COACHING CAREER:** Joined the coaching ranks assisiting with the Blue Jays Extended Spring Training program at the end of the 2007 season...Remained as Hitting Coach with the Gulf Coast squad through 2008...Spent one season as a Roving Minor League Hitting Coach in 2009 before moving to Las Vegas (AAA) where he would spend the next three seasons at Hitting Coach...Was added to the Blue Jays Major League coaching staff following the AAA season at Las Vegas as the hitting coach in 2011-2012... In 2013 makes his Major League coaching debut, becoming the Club's hitting coach.

Signed a Minor League contract with the Blue Jays on January 8, 2005... Batted .255 with 27 doubles, 21 home runs and 69 RBI... Played 72 games in RF, 41 at DH, 10 at 1B, three as a pinch hitter and one in LF... Had his best month in May batting .286 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 25 games... Had 9 multi-hit games in May... Had a season high four RBI on two occasions (May 23 at Columbus and June 6 at Louisville)... Finished 2nd on the team in hits, runs, RBI, total bases and doubles; 3rd in home runs, at bats and games played... Had 35 multi-hit games and 20 multi-RBI games.
