SUMMARY: Enjoyed the finest offensive season of his career, setting career highs in
batting average (.281), RBI (32), slugging percentage (.525), on-base percentage (.368)
and runs scored (27)...his 9 home runs were the most since clubbing a career-high 11 in
2001 (9 with Texas and 2 with Boston)...appeared in 53 games (41 starts, including one
as the designated hitter).
START ME UP: Posted a .305 batting average (43-for-141) with 9 homers, 29 RBI and
25 runs scored in his 41 starts...started 4 straight games during Jason Varitek's suspension
from August 23-26, going 5-for-16 (.313) with a homer, 4 RBI and 2 runs
scored...also made a rare start with Curt Schilling on the mound July 3 at Atlanta.
PLAYING LONG BALL: Slugged 3 home runs in his first 7 at-bats of 2004...his 2-homer
effort April 21 at Toronto was the 2nd of the his career (April 18, 2000 with San Francisco
at Cincinnati)...hit the 2nd grand slam of his career July 3 at Atlanta off John
Thomson, adding to Boston's 2-0 lead en route to a 6-1 win...with his club trailing 3-2 in

a 5-4 victory...had 9 home runs in 160 at-bats, an average of one every 17.8 at-bats.
PUTTING UP NUMBERS: Recorded a pair of 4-RBI games July 3 at Atlanta and September
25 vs. New York, tying his career high from August 21, 2001 at Anaheim...scored a
career-high 3 runs for the 4th time in his career July 6 vs. Oakland.
TAKING A BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE: After going 6-for-17 (.353) against the Yankees
in 2003, Mirabelli went 7-for-18 (.389) with 3 doubles, 2 home runs and 7 RBI
against the Yanks in 2004...finished the campaign with a lifetime .328 (19-for-58)
average, 3 home runs and 8 RBI against the Yankees...hit one of 3 doubles in a 7-run 8th
inning September 25 vs. New York, knocking in a pair of runs as the Red Sox went on to
