Shared the Diamondbacks catching duties with Kelly Stinnett, appearing in 86 games behind the plate (78 starts) and fielding at a .991 clip (6 E/689 TC) ... at the plate, he batted .270 with 11 homers and 47 RBI... participated in 3 "strike-'em-out/throw-'em-out" double plays May 25 against San Diego ... in the Diamondbacks' 4-0 victory, Padres baserunners Quilvio Veras, Damian Jackson and Reggie Sanders all attempted to swipe second base with Randy Johnson on the mound... it was the first time since the New York Giants' Shanty Hogan in 1931 that a catcher participated in three double plays of that variety in one game... hit his second career grand slam August 26 off Florida left-hander Brent Billingsley... was injured late in the year and was not on Arizona's playoff roster... on September 21, he suffered a hairline fracture near his right thumb blocking a pitch in the dirt ... the injury came in a contest in which he recorded his first 2-homer game -- going deep twice off Colorado's Brian Bohanon.
