Cornelius Clifford Floyd...married to Maryanne...the couple has three children, daughters Bria Shae and Layla, and son Tobias...is a graduate of Thornwood (IL) High School...named the Chicago Tribune's Athlete of the Year in 1991... starred as a three-sport star in baseball, football and basketball...led his high school to the Class AA Basketball Sectional Playoffs...the team lost to the eventual state champion, Proviso East, which featured three future NBA first-round picks including the Spurs Michael Finley...led his team to the Illinois state baseball championship as a senior and hit .508 with 130 RBI during the final two years of his prep career...heavily recruited by Arizona State University, Stanford University and Creighton University before the Expos drafted him...signed by Expos scout Stan Zielinski.

2006
Injuries played a major part of Floyd's season, as he missed a total of 47 days due to a sprained left ankle and a strained left achilles. It is the eighth year in which Floyd has had to deal with some type of injury, and he played in only 97 games, the least amount for him in a season since 1999, when he appeared in only 69 contests for the Marlins. Although Floyd caught the final out to secure the Mets' NL East title, and he was able to make his second appearance in the postseason, the season turned into his least productive in terms of runs (45), homers (11) and RBIs (44) since 1999, when he scored 37 runs, and had 11 homers and 49 RBIs. His .244 batting average was the worst since he batted .234 in 61 games with the Marlins in 1997.

It was Cliff's first multi-steal game since September 25, 2001 as a member of the Marlins at Atlanta...Had 42 multi-hit games: 36, two-hit contests and six, three-hit games...Recorded 25 multi-RBI contests: three, four-RBI games; three, three-RBI contests and 19, two-RBI games.

Collected his 1,000th career hit, a double off John Thomson, on April 7th at Atlanta...Picked up his 1,100th hit on September 18th at Pittsburgh (a double off Nelson Figueroa)...Missed the last 13 games of the season with a strain of the right oblique...Collected the ninth multiple-home run game of his career, June 29th at Cincinnati (off Todd Van Poppel)...It was his first multiple-home run game as a Met...Hit his fourth career grand slam (off Roy Oswalt) on May 14th at Houston...Placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on April 12th with a strain of the right quadriceps...Injured himself in the first inning on April 11th vs. Montreal in San Juan...Activated from the disabled list on May 13th...Was 2-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in one Major League Rehabilitation game, May 11th for St. Lucie (A) in a Florida State League game vs. Sarasota.

Spent the campaign with three different teams: the Florida Marlins, Montreal Expos and Boston Red Sox...Began the season with the Marlins, where in 84 games in the outfield, he had a .983 fielding percentage with five assists...Before being traded by the Marlins, he led the team in home runs, RBI, walks and on-base percentage (.413)...On July 11th he was traded to the Expos, where he played in only 15 games before being traded to the Red Sox on July 30th.

Began the year with Ottawa (AAA) of the International League on a rehabilitation assignment...Joined the Expos on April 29th in New York...Hit three pinch-hit home runs, June 21st vs. St Louis (off Mark Petkovsek), June 30th at Philadelphia (off Ricky Bottalico) and August 9th vs. Chicago (off Turk Wendell)...The three pinch-hit home runs ranked third in the NL, and one shy of the Expos record...Started games at all three outfield positions and one game at first base.
1995
Suffered a career-threatening injury involving his left wrist in a game at New York on May 15th...Six of the eight bones located at the base of his left wrist were either broken or dislocated, including ligament damage and a tear of the sac which contains the bones, in a collision at first base with the Mets' Todd Hundley...Was activated from the Disabled List on September 11th and started September 12th vs. the Phillies.
1994
Started 63 games at first base, 12 in leftfield and four in right...Had a .991 fielding percentage at first and a .975 fielding percentage in the outfield with one error in 40 chances...Collected the first four-hit game of his career (4-4), a career-high, on July 24th vs. Los Angeles...Posted six, three-hit games during the season...Stole his first major league base on April 17th at Colorado.
