2007
Juan suffered a left eye injury when he was struck by a foul ball on 8/31 vs. CIN while standing in the on-deck circle in the 6th inning and missed the remainder of the season. Aaron Miles was at-bat with Encarnacion on-deck readying to pinch hit for Randy Flores. He was taken to a local hospital where he was diagnosed with multiple fractures of his left eye socket and a serious eye injury. Had surgery on 9/20 to repair his left orbital wall and floor. Surgery was done by Dr. Aaron M. Fay of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary: Department of Ophthalmology in Boston. Underwent surgery again on 1/22/08 for further reconstruction of the eye socket. Batted .315 (39-for-124) in 36 games at home (31 starts). Had .262 batting average on the road. Had seven-game run scoring streak (11 runs total) 5/30-6/6. The seven-game run streak was a team season high. Hit safely in 16 of his 21 July games (.356 BA, 11-R, 2-HR, 19-RBI). Had team-high 18-game hit streak (.304 avg.) snapped on 6/19, one shy of career high. Missed the first part of the season recovering from off-season surgery on his left wrist. Appeared in 15 games with Springfield (AA) on an injury rehab. assignment and batted .155 (9-for-58). Was taken off the Disabled List on 5/13. Had an RBI-single 5/14 at LA in the first inning for his first hit and RBI of the season. Had 3 infield hits 5/16 at LA. Hit bases clearing double 5/31 in Denver for GWRBI. His solo HR to lead off 9th on 6/1 at HOU was his first HR of season and second GWRBI in two games. Homered in consecutive games for 2nd time as a Cardinal, June 3 & 5. Three-run homer in the 6th on 7/5 provided 3-2 win vs. ARI after his RBI-2B in the 8th on 7/4 vs. D-Backs tied the game at 4. Walked twice and stole a base on 7/17 at FLA, but ended a stretch of hitting in eight straight (10-30, .333, 2 HR). Had three hits & three RBI in 7/18 win at FLA, reaching base in first 4 PA's. Had GWRBI on 7/20 at ATL, going 2-4. Doubled and drove in Cards' first run 8/8 vs. SD. It was his first extra-base hit after 22 consecutive singles since 7/18 at FLA, a span of 63 at-bats between X-base hits. Hit one of the Cards three HR's on 8/18 at CHI. His start on 8/17 at CHI was his first since 8/8...he'd missed seven games with left knee soreness.
2006
In his first season with the Cardinals, produced strong numbers with 19 HR's, 25 doubles & 79 RBI...Ranked T4th on the team in HR (19) & 3rd with 49 XBH, including 5 triples (T1st with Aaron Miles)...Started 24 of last 41 games in CF filling in for the injured Jim Edmonds. Committed no errors in centerfield. Started 111 games in RF, 27 in CF & 1 in LF...Batted .302 (26-86) in July after posting a .367 BA in June (36-98). Twelve of 36 hits in June went for x-bases & had RBI in 15 of 24 games (20 total). 2001
Played in 120 games for the Detroit Tigers and hit .242 with 12 home runs, 52 RBI, nine stolen bases and a career-high seven triples...hit a two-run homer in his only start as Detroit's designated hitter, on April 18 vs Chicago...from May 2-5, drove in two runs in four consecutive games...notched a season-high four RBI on May 18 at Texas...in game two of a doubleheader on July 28 vs. Cleveland, became the first Tigers batter with two triples in a game since Brad Ausmus on July 6, 1999 vs. the New York Yankees...appeared in 73 games before the All-Star break, hitting .258 (70-for-271) with 44 RBI, 12 doubles, five triples and 10 home runs...committed six errors on the season, four in center field and two in right field...hit .181 with runners on base, the lowest mark in the American League, and .191 with runners in scoring position, the thirdlowest mark in the AL.
2000
Played in 141 games and hit .289 with 14 home runs, 72 RBI and 16 stolen bases with the Tigers...posted a career-high 19-game hitting streak from April 16-May 7, the longest by a Tiger on the season...hit .346 (28-for-81) with one double, one triple, three home runs and 11 RBI over the streak...led the club in stolen bases for the second consecutive season...also led the Tigers in triples...ranked second on the team with 49 multi-hit games and third in hits...was named the Tigers' Player of the Month in April, when he hit .360 with four homers, nine RBI and two stolen bases...was suspended for three days, May 27-29, for his participation in an altercation with the Chicago White Sox on April 22.
1999
In his first full Major League season, hit .255 with 19 home runs, 74 RBI and 33 stolen bases...led the Tigers in stolen bases and ranked fifth on the club in homers...overall, ranked seventh in the American League in steals and became the ninth Tiger since 1919 to swipe at least 30 bases in a season...was successful on 16 of his last 18 stolen base attempts...ranked among the American League leaders with 10 outfield assists...on Sept. 26 vs Kansas City, was hit in the face by a Blake Stein pitch and didn't play again the rest of the season...suffered a fractured left cheekbone and broken nose...on Sept. 27, had surgery to repair the injuries... missed games with a right hip injury (four games in May) and right ankle (six games in July)...was the Tigers' Player of the Month for May when he hit .311 with one homer, 12 RBI and nine steals...put together a season-high 13-game hitting streak, May 11-25, and hit .333 over that span...on April 5 at Texas, homered on the first pitch of the season from Rick Helling...became the first Tigers batter with a leadoff homer on Opening Day since Roy Johnson on April 13, 1932 at Navin Field vs Cleveland...on Sept. 19 at Boston, recorded his first career two-homer game, both coming off Tim Wakefield.
1998
In his first extended stay in the Major Leagues, hit .329 (54-for-164) with seven home runs, 21 RBI and seven stolen bases in 40 games for the Tigers... his .329 average was the best by any Tigers batter with at least 150 at-bats...recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Aug. 17 and hit safely in each of his first 11 games for Detriot (.381)... was Detroit's Player of the Month for September, as he hit .327 with five homers and 13 RBI...despite appearing in just 40 games, ranked among AL rookie leaders in triples (tied for 4th), stolen bases (tied for 6th) and outfield assists (tied for 5th)...hit in 11 straight games from August 18-28, the fourth-longest streak by any rookie in the Majors..hit .381 (16-for-42) over that span...on Sept. 14 vs. Chicago (AL), had five hits and four RBI, becoming the first Tigers batter to score five runs in a game since Travis Fryman on April 17, 1993 vs. Seattle...was the only Tigers batter all season to collect five hits in a game...hit leadoff in consecutive games, Sept. 23 at Kansas City and Sept. 25 at Toronto, done for the first two times in his career...homered in both games and was 4-for-10 with three RBI in those contests...began the season in the Tigers' minor league system and did not play until April 24 because of a broken left foot...made a four-game rehab assignment at Lakeland before joining Triple-A Toledo.
1997
Made the jump from Double-A Jacksonville to the Majors and appeared in 11 games for the Tigers...made nine starts, including his Major League debut on Sept. 2 at Atlanta, in which he went 0-for-3...on Sept. 3, at Atlanta, collected his first Major League hit, a single off Paul Byrd...on Sept. 6 vs. Anaheim, hit his first homer, a two-run shot off Allen Watson...later in that game, was hit by a Watson pitch and broke the fifth metacarpal in his right hand...continued to play after breaking the bone in his hand, appearing in seven games and hitting .208 with a double, triple and two RBI before appearing in his last game of the season on Sept. 14 at Oakland...played 131 games at Double-A Jacksonville and hit .323, the fifth-best average in the Southern League...finished tied for fourth in the league with 26 HR and led the club with 31 doubles and 91 runs scored...also recorded 17 stolen bases in 20 attempts...was the Tigers' Minor League Player of the Month for May and July...hit three homers in the Southern League All-Star Game to earn Most Valuable Player honors...following the season was named by Baseball America as the Southern League's Best Batting Prospect, Best Outfield Arm and Most Exciting Player...following the season, was named one of baseball's Top 10 prospects by Howe Sportsdata.

Led Single-A Lakeland with 15 home runs, 31 doubles and 131 games played... his throwing arm was voted the best in the Florida State League.

Led Single-A Fayetteville with 16 homers, which was tied for second among all Tigers minor league players... his 72 RBI finished tied for third in the organization.
