Split the season between Cleveland and Montreal, playing in 72 games and hitting .267 with six home runs
and 30 RBI... began the season with the Indians, but played six games (.222, 4x18) before being released on
April 29... signed with the Expos on May 11 with 999 career hits and 99 career home runs... Hit .393 (11x28) with three homers, 10 RBI and five walks (.485 OBP and .786 SLG) as a pinch hitter and was selected to USA Today Sports Weekly's team as the best right-handed pinch-hitter in the Majors... with the Expos, finished tied for third in the NL in pinch-hit RBI (10) and was tied for first in pinch homers (three)... Hit back-to-back pinch-hit homers on July 5 and 7 at Philadelphia, hitting both homers into the upper deck at Veterans Stadium... his July 5 homer was the 100th of his career, coming off Jose Santiago... tallied his second PH homer off Carlos Silva... Hit his final homer of the season and third pinch homer of the year on August 25 at San Francisco, off Chad Zerbe in the ninth inning.

Cordero spent his second full season with the Indians in 2001 starting 67 games between left field, first base and designated hitter and was a valuable pinch-hitter... Had a 257 at bat homer-less drought snapped on May 16 at Texas, his first of 2001 and his first since July 18, 2000 at Los Angeles while with the Pirates... Enjoyed his 4th career two-homer game on May 24 vs. Detroit off Victor Santos... Went over two months and 86 at bats without an RBI between May 24 and July 27... Was 4x10 as a pinch-hitter with 1 RBI... On disabled list from June 11-26 after having a hand tag (growth) removed from his left hand after the game of June 10 vs. Cincinnati... After being activated, hit .197 (29-147) the rest of the season with 4 2B, 1 HR & 8 RBI in 51 games... On the year he made 67 starts - 3 in right field, 36 in left field, 10 at DH and 18 at first base... Appeared in 22 games at first base, 49 games in left and 4 in right field... His .119 (5-42) average w/RISP and 2 outs was the 3rd lowest mark in the AL... Hit in 8 straight games from April 12-24.
2000
In 2000, Cordero split the year between Pittsburgh & Cleveland before missing the final three weeks of the season with a broken right hand... Was acquired from the Pirates prior to the trading deadline and hit .264 (39-148) with Cleveland with 11 2B, 2 3B & 17 RBI in 38 games before suffering a non-displaced fracture of the 5th metacarpal in his right hand on 9/9 against Chicago (AL) after being hit by a Kevin Beirne pitch... Missed the last 23 games of the season... Did not homer with Cleveland & did not hit a homer over his last 183 at bats of the season...From May 1 through the end of the season he hit .297 (121-408) with 14 HR & 61 RBI over his last 104 games after hitting .182 (16-88) in April with the Pirates (2HR, 7RBI)... Over his last 28 games with Cleveland he hit .288 (32-111) with 12 RS & 14 RBI... With Cleveland he made 38 starts in left field...Hit in a career-high 15 straight games from April 29-May 23 and hit in 20 of 21 from April 29-May 29... Enjoyed his 3rd career 2-HR game on July 5 at Wrigley Field and set a new career-high with 6 RBI... Collected his 2nd career 5-hit game on May 10 vs the Mets (1HR, 4RBI)... Between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, hit a combined .276 (137-496) on the year with 16 HR & 68 RBI in 127 games... He hit .310 (44-142) with runners in scoring position.
1999
Had a productive season cut short in June after breaking his left wrist on 6/8 vs. Milwaukee...Won the Tribe's DH/LF job over Richie Sexson in spring training after hitting .405 (32-79) with 10 2B, 4 HR, 20 RBI and 1 SB in 25 games after signing a one-year, non-guaranteed contract in early February... Picked up where he left off in spring training by hitting .319 (23-72) in April with 7 2B, 2HR & 11 RBI in 18 games... Hit in 10 straight games from 4/8-20... Missed 5 games from April 29-May 3 with a bruised right wrist (HBP on April 28 @ OAK)... Broke the radius bone in his left wrist in two places on June 8 vs Milwaukee making a diving catch in the 6th inning on a Jeromy Burnitz fly ball... Underwent surgery the next day in Cleveland...The procedure was performed by Dr. Louis Keppler and Dr. Tom Graham... Was placed on the 60-day disabled list on June 9 and was sent on a rehab. assignment at AA-Akron on August 2... Appeared in three games for Aeros before being activated off the 60-day DL on September 8... Played in 14 September games, hitting .238 (10-42) with 3 2B, 3 HR & 6 RBI in nine starts in LF... On the year made 19 starts at DH and 29 starts in left field... Was 5x9 (.556) with a HR & 2 RBI in 3 games against Boston in the Division Series in his first taste of post-season play... HR came in Game 4 off Tom Gordon.
1998
Appeared in 96 games for the Chicago White Sox after signing with the club at the end of spring training as a free agent on March 23... Began the season at Birmingham, appearing in 11 games, before making his White Sox debut on April 23 at Cleveland and homered on the first pitch he saw from Jaret Wright... Was one of seven White Sox players to reach double figures in homers, starting 81 games at first base (83 apps.), six starts in right field and three in left field... Enjoyed a hot second half, hitting .293 (41-140) with 5 HR & 20 RBI in 39 games... Hit .368 (14-38) in September... Went 2-for-4 with 2 HR and a then career-high 5 RBI on April 29 at Baltimore, including his second career grand slam off Sidney Ponson... It was also his 2nd career two homer game...White Sox declined his 1999 option after the season, this making him a free agent... Hit .333 (32-96) for Mayaguez in the Puerto Rican Winter League after the season with 6 HR & 23 RBI in 26 games for the Puerto Rican League Champions.
