Roger Leandro Cedeno
Is a product of the Criollotos, a youth baseball program in Venezuela that resembles Little League Baseball in the United States...His brother, Nolys Solarte, played in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization...Hails from the same hometown as former Oriole pitcher Omar Daal...Donated time, effort and money to aid the flood and mudslide relief effort in his native Venezuela in December 2000...Donated $10,000 to the New York Police & Fire Widows & Children's Benefit Fund to help assist the families of the 9/11 attacks.
2006
Did not play professionally during the regular season...Batted .316 (56-177) in 45 games for the Caracas Lions in the Venezuelan Winter League...Had 9 doubles, 2 triples, 5 homers and 23 RBI, splitting his time between left field, right field and designated hitter...Hit .448 (13-29) off lefties for Caracas...Also batted .339 (40-118) in 27 games as the Lions' lead-off hitter...Hit safely in 35 of 45 games for the Lions, including a 14-game hitting streak (.379, 25-66) that raised his average from .211 to .341.
2005
Appeared in 37 games for St. Louis, mostly as a pinch-hitter, before being released by the Cardinals on 6/24...Hit a 3-run pinch-hit double on 4/18 at Pittsburgh...Did not have hits in consecutive games until hitting safely in 3 straight games, 5/30-6/2, going 3-for-8 with a RBI...Went on the disabled list on 6/6 with a strained right hamstring...Played in 8 games on rehab assignment with AAA Memphis before being activated, designated for assignment and released by St. Louis...Did not play the rest of the year.
2004
Reserve outfielder enjoyed his first season with the Cardinals, appearing in 95 games.
Was second on the team with 11 pinch hits, batting .244 (11-45) as a pinch hitter with one home run.
Made 38 starts on the year (15-LF, 23-RF). Redbirds were 24-14 when Roger started.
Had season-high six game hit streak 7/27-8/3 hitting .450 (9-for-20) with three RBI during that span.
Hit in 11 straight starts from 7/11-8/5 going 16-for-42 with a .381 batting avg., scoring seven runs.
Started the season with the big league club, but had just three appearances before going on the disabled list. Placed on the 15-day DL April 11 and missed 28 games with a left hamstring injury.

2003
Ended the year by reaching base safely in 15 of his last 23 plate appearances to lead off the game...Had nine singles, three doubles, a triple and two walks.
After an 11-63 start (.175 ) through the first 20 games of the season (April 27th ), he hit .280 (118-421) the rest of the year (128 games).
Recorded his 800th career hit on September 24th vs. Pittsburgh.

Had four outfield assists...Missed the Dodgers first 20 games while on the 15-Day Disabled List with a right hamstring strain ... Was placed on the Disabled List on March 22nd after straining his right hamstring while running out an infield hit in a spring training game on March 1st vs. Atlanta in Vero Beach ... Was reinstated from the Disabled List on April 24th...Went 229 at-bats during the season without a home run until breaking up Steve Woodard's perfect-game bid with a solo home run to lead off the 7th inning on September 24th vs. Milwaukee ... Hit his second home run 11 at-bats later in the season finale against the Brewers on September 27th.
1997
Played in 80 games with the Dodgers before being placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on August 26th after fracturing his left big toe in the second game of a doubleheader on August 25th at Pittsburgh ... The fracture occurred when he caught his toe on the artificial turf at Three Rivers Stadium attempting to catch a foul ball in leftfield ... Missed the remaining 30 games of the season...Started the season with an injury after being placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on March 31st when he suffered a left hip flexor in spring training ... Was on major league rehabilitation assignment at Albuquerque (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League when he was recalled by the Dodgers on May 21st.
1996
Started 45 games for the Dodgers (33 in center, nine in left and three in right) ... All but one of his starts came after May 2nd when Brett Butler was placed on the Disabled List...Had his first major league five-hit game on May 31st at New York, going 5-5 with a double, RBI and run scored in the 10-3 win ... Was the first Dodger to collect five hits in a game since Brett Butler on April 20, 1994...His first major league home run was a three-run, seventh-inning blast off Tom Glavine to break a 3-3 tie in the Dodgers' 6-3 win on June 13th at Atlanta . ..Was optioned to Albuquerque on July 21st ... Was recalled by the Dodgers on September 7th and made six appearances as a pinch-runner.
1995
Recalled from Albuquerque on June 20th and made his major league debut that same night as a defensive replacement in leftfield in the eighth inning ... Made his first major league start in centerfield on June 23rd vs. San Francisco and went 0-4...Collected his first major league RBI on June 28th vs. San Diego with a fifth inning sacrifice fly off Andy Ashby...Optioned back to Albuquerque on July 7th ... Recalled again on August 10th. ..Collected his first major league hit on August 13th vs. Pittsburgh when he singled to leftfield off Denny Neagle in the third inning ... The hit snapped an 0-13 streak which began his major league career ... Batted .345 (10-29) in his final 23 games of the season...Optioned back to Albuquerque one last time on August 18th and was recalled on September 1st ... Made nine starts for the Dodgers, eight in centerfield and one in rightfield.
1994
Hit .321 which was the fifth highest in the Dodger organization, second best among all switch-hitters in the PCL and fourth highest among all switch-hitters in the minor leagues...Was the youngest player in the Pacific Coast League at age 19...Batted .273 with a league-best eight triples for Caribbean World Series Champions Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League.
1993
Tied for third in the Texas League in triples and was fifth in stolen bases...Was the youngest player, at 18, in the Texas League since Bobby Tolan in 1964 and the youngest ever named to the League's All-Star team...Was promoted to Albuquerque on September 1st.
1992
Was named to the Pioneer League All-Star team and tabbed the second-best prospect in the league by Baseball America...Led the league in stolen bases and tied for third in walks and singles (68).
