**Managerial/Coaching Career** Entering his second season as Indians Bench Coach and his fourth season overall on the Indians' Major League coaching Staff...Named First Base Coach on November 17, 2009, was 1B coach in 2010 and Bench Coach in 2011 for Manny Acta...Also instructs and mentors Indians catchers...Spent two (2) seasons as the New York Mets Major League catching instructor in 2008-09 after concluding his 20th Major League season in 2007. **Playing Career** Sandy spent eleven (11) seasons catching with the Cleveland Indians from 1990-2000 where he was a six-time All-Star selection and in the summer of 2009 was the 33rd player to be inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame...During his tenure with the Indians, Alomar hit .277 (944-3409) with 194 doubles, 92 home runs and 453 RBI in 985 games and was the Tribe's field leader behind the plate on club's that won five (5) American League Central Division titles and two (2) American League Pennants from 1995-99...One of the most popular players in club history, Alomar's best season came during the Tribe's run to the 1997 World Series when he hit .324 (146-451) with 37 2B, 21HR and 83 RBI in 125 games, earning All-Star Game MVP honors and finishing 14th in the AL MVP voting...His 950 games caught are the third highest total in the 109-year history of the Indians organization...Sandy concluded his 20-year Major League playing career with the New York Mets in 2007 and finished with a career average of .273 (1236-4530) with 249 2B, 112HR & 588RBI in 1377 games...He was the 1990 American League Rookie of the Year and the Rawlings Gold Glove Award recipient that same season...Originally signed by the Padres and was traded to the Indians after the 1989 season along with Carlos Baerga for OF Joe Carter...Appeared in 49 post-season games with the Indians...Drove in a then single-season record 19 runs in the 1997 playoffs. **Personal/Miscellaneous** Full name SANTOS VELAZQUEZ ALOMAR...Wife, Margred...Resides in Chicago, IL...Has four daughters: Marisa (10/25/92), Leanna (4/18/88), Brianna (12/2/00), Isabella (4/22/04) and one son, Marcus (2/14/90)...Father, Sandy Sr., played for six teams over a 15-year big league career from 1964-78...His brother, Roberto, played 17 seasons from 1988-2004 and was a 12-time All-Star...He was a two-time World Series champion with Toronto, hit .300 for his career with 210 homers, 1,134 RBIs and 474 stolen bases and was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in January 2011...The three Alomar's have a combined total of 5,128 hits...Attended Luis Munoz High School in Salinas, PR.

Was limited to 35 games by an injury to his left knee suffered on May 10 vs. Baltimore while blocking a wild pitch...underwent surgery on May 21 in Cleveland to remove a bone chip from the knee capsule ...
