Thousands Run in Phillies Charities 5K presented by Fox Chase Cancer Center
Thousands of runners arrived bright and early on a rainy Saturday morning to race in the 14th annual Phillies Charities 5K presented by Fox Chase Cancer Center, held on March 23, 2024. Participants showed off their Phillies spirit as they sprinted around Citizens Bank Park and the Navy Yard during the 3.1 mile run.
Phillies announcer Dan Baker emceed the event and revved up the runners, while Phillies alumni Milt Thompson and Mickey Morandini cheered on participants at the final mile marker on the corner of Broad Street and Phillies Drive. At the finish line, Phillies Ballgirls distributed medals to the runners.
A big congratulations to the race winners: Eric Reitinger, age 40, from Mount Laurel, NJ, who came in first place for the men, finishing the 5K in just 16:51, and Whitney Heydenreich, age 36, from Danville, Pa., who placed first in the women’s category in just 19:26!
The charity event was held in partnership with Campbell Soup Company, Chick-fil-A Greater Philadelphia, Coca-Cola, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Independence Blue Cross, J&J Snack Foods, Johnson Controls, LF Driscoll, Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, Navy Yard, NovaCare, Pep Boys, RE/MAX, Temple Health, The GIANT Company, and Toyota.
