COVID-19 Efforts

With Philabundance partner agencies reporting up to a 60% increase in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Philabundance has launched a temporary drive-thru style food distribution to help feed neighbors in need.

The primary goal of this new site is to safely distribute food to clients on a mass scale by serving up to 1,600 vehicles every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., until June 26 in parking lot N of Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies, who are longtime supporters of the cause and donated the space for the distribution. As part of the Phillies Give Back program, the club’s front office staff joined the Urban League of Philadelphia in a clean-up project in West Philadelphia on the morning of Saturday, June 13.

Fans were able to bid on a Dream Day at Citizens Bank Park as part of the #ALLINCHALLENGE.

On Tuesday, June 2, the Phillies held a fun-filled Quizzo Night for Team Foster, an organization that strives to help military veterans.

The virtual event was hosted by Phillies Director of Public Affairs Scott Palmer and 1993 National League Champion Mickey Morandini, and also featured a surprise guest: pitcher Adam Morgan, who dropped in to say hi and asked the first question of the night.

In 2020, fans spent a lot of the year at home but that didn’t stop Phillies Phitness AT HOME from getting a workout.

Teaming up with Giant Food Stores, Phillies coaches, trainers and staff have created fun videos with different tips and games.

On Tuesday, May 19, Phillies front office employees and their spouses came back to the ballpark to take part in an American Red Cross Blood Drive Supported by Budweiser.

On May 14, Kevin Frandsen made a special visit to Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, where he personally delivered lunch to oncology workers.

The tasty food was provided by Phillies' partner Campos as a way to thank the staff for all that they have been doing for families during COVID-19. The trip was made in memory of Kevin's brother, DJ, who succumbed to leukemia at the young age of 25, and in partnership with the 19 for Life Foundation, named in memory of DJ and representing the number of years DJ battled cancer.

On Monday, May 4, the Phillies and their partners - along with the Phillie Phanatic - teamed up to distribute thousands of cases of food to 15 Philadelphia-area food pantries that are helping to feed families in need during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Phillies partners who took part in these hunger relief efforts include The GIANT Company, Hatfield, Herr's, J&J Snack Foods, Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages and Tri-State Toyota Dealers. View Photos | Watch Video

Didi Gregorius reached out to fans via Twitter, to help share stories and photos of healthcare heroes in fans’ lives.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the team's director of public affairs Scott Palmer and community outreach department have been hosting virtual kid-themed and Phillies-themed bingo games.

Special Phillies guests have included the Phanatic, 1993 National League Champion Mickey Morandini, the Phillies Ballgirls and front office members.

These interactive events have been hosted for families affected by cancer and held in partnership with Michaels Way, Kisses for Kyle and Bringing Hope Home. A senior-edition Phillies Bingo Game was also held virtually for Brandywine at Longwood Living Facility.

Phillies' Manager of Graphic Design Melissa Maani shared her creative talents and recently hosted a fun, interactive virtual arts and crafts class for children who are battling - or have battled - cancer. The Phillies Ballgirls also took part in the special event.

The Phanatic took time to virtually hang out with his good friends John Legend, The Plain White T's and Andra Day over Zoom to raise money for COVID-19 relief.

On May 7, the Phillies, Constellation and the student body at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy surprised Peter Randall, a beloved robotics teacher, with a Phillies All-Star Teacher Drive-By Parade.

More than 100 cars took part in the parade, with the Phillie Phanatic and broadcaster Tom McCarthy as special guests.

Bryce and Kayla Harper donated $250,000 to Philabundance in Philadelphia, as well as $250,000 to Direct Relief and Three Squares in Las Vegas (his hometown), to help those in immediate need.

Phillies, MLB & EVERFI launch #SummerSlugger free educational program.

To help parents and educators during school virtual instruction, the Phillies, with help from EVERFI, launched MLB’s #SummerSlugger program. Parents can practice math and literacy skills with their kids for free at home with an interactive online course with a baseball twist.
