LOS ANGELES -- Friday is the deadline for clubs to tender contracts to unsigned players, but the Dodgers got a head start last week when they removed relievers Tom Koehler, Erik Goeddel and Zachary Rosscup from the 40-man roster.
That leaves 10 arbitration-eligible players. They include Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood, Joc Pederson, Enrique Hernandez, Chris Taylor, Corey Seager and Pedro Baez. Except for the injured Seager, all were key contributors in 2018, and all are expected to return.
And that leaves three relievers -- Josh Fields, Tony Cingrani and Yimi Garcia -- who could be non-tendered and face an uncertain free-agent market unless they sign team-friendly contracts. All three had arm issues during the season, and all three were left off postseason rosters.
First, Fields. The 33-year-old right-hander went 2-2 with a 2.20 ERA and a 0.951 WHIP in 45 games, but he spent two months on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation while earning $2.2 million.

The 29-year-old Cingrani, a key contributor after his acquisition during the 2017 season, was nearly a non-factor in 2018, and he was greatly missed. He spent two stints on the disabled list, 10 days in May, then Cingrani missed virtually the last four months of the regular season with a left shoulder strain. He was 1-2 with a 4.76 ERA, and he made only two appearances after June 6 in a failed September comeback. He earned $2.3 million this year and is in his final arbitration season.
Garcia, 28, was once viewed with the same promise as Baez. But, he hasn't been right since missing most of 2016 and '17 following Tommy John surgery. He went 1-2 with a 5.64 ERA in only 25 games in 2018, which included two stints on the disabled list with right elbow and forearm issues. Garcia signed a $630,000 contract last year as a threatened non-tender.
If the club tenders a contract to any of the 10 players and no agreement is reached on salary, arbitration is the alternative. If a contract is not tendered by Friday, the player becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any club, including the Dodgers.
