Yanks, USO compile care packages for troops

November 10th, 2017

NEW YORK -- The Yankees and the USO teamed up to honor veterans with the Holiday for Heroes initiative on Friday morning, as 250-plus volunteers helped assemble more than 5,000 care packages for active-duty service members in Yankee Stadium's Great Hall.
YES Network broadcasters David Cone and Michael Kay were on hand to lend their support to the cause, along with Yankees front-office employees and veterans. Volunteers from Delta, Disney, FedEx, Just Born and MetLife also participated.

The USO will distribute the packs to troops serving in remote units across the world during this holiday season. In addition, the New York Yankees Foundation presented the USO with a contribution in support of this effort.
A private nonprofit organization, the USO provides a touch of home through centers located at airports and military bases around the world and top-quality entertainment through innovative programs and services. For more information about the USO of Metropolitan New York, visit usonyc.org.
