Yankees' Hauver continues homer barrage
Yankees prospect Trevor Hauver just can't stop hitting home runs.
The 22-year-old second baseman has now homered in each of his first five career professional games -- with six home runs total -- after crushing another one Sunday for the Low-A Tampa Tarpons.
Hauver, who's ranked the Yankees' No. 23 prospect by MLB Pipeline, was New York's third-round Draft pick last year out of Arizona State, where he batted behind fellow slugger and No. 1 overall Draft pick Spencer Torkelson.
Hauver's latest homer came leading off the sixth inning Sunday against Blue Jays prospect Daniel Ponce. Hauver has also homered against Toronto prospects Adrian Hernandez, Juan De Paula, Jiorgeny Casimiri, Naswell Paulino and Davis Schneider.
Hauver is batting .556 with the six homers, 13 RBIs and a 2.265 OPS so far in 2021. He leads the Minor Leagues in home runs and has twice as many as any other hitter in Low-A.
